- DAILY LIMIT BAGS
9.1 Catch and Release Only
All sports fish caught in the following waters must be released immediately back into the waters from which they were taken with as little injury as possible:
Lake Marymere
Kaiapoi Lakes
Ashley River above the Oxford-Glentui Bridge
Broken River and all of its tributaries (including Winding Creek, Porter River and Slovens Creek).
9.2 Rest of North Canterbury Fish and Game Region
No licence holder shall take, kill or be in possession of more than:
9.2.1 Total Sports fish 6
9.2.2 Salmon
a) Lake Coleridge 6
b) Rest of North Canterbury Fish and Game region 2
9.2.3 Total Trout
a) Eastern zone 4
b) Western zone
i) Lake Coleridge 4
ii) Lake Sumner 4
iii) Rest of western zone 2

OPEN SEASON
2.1 Open season for trout and perch
The season duration for trout and perch in the following waters shall be all year:
Karamea River, downstream of cableway at the mouth of the lower gorge
Little Wanganui River downstream of the S/H No. 67 bridge
Mokihinui River, downstream from the cableway at Welcome Creek
Martin’s Creek downstream of Main Rd.
Buller River, downstream of Lyell confluence
Nile River, downstream of Awakere
Grey River, downstream of Clarke confluence
Lake Brunner (Note clause 3)
Arnold River
New River Estuary downstream of S/H 6
Taramakau River, downstream of Stanley Gooseman Bridge at Jacksons
Kumara Reservoir
Kapitea Reservoir
Arahura River downstream of Landsburgh bridge
Kokatahi River, downstream of Styx confluence
Hokitika River, downstream of swingbridge at lower gorge
Lake Kaniere
Lake Mahinapua and Mahinapua Creek
