17 SEPTEMBER NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE

1.2 All other waters in the region are open for fishing from 1 October to 30 April in the year following.

  1. ARTIFICIAL FLY AND ARTIFICIAL MINNOW ONLY WATERS

2.1 No licence holder when fishing for sports fish shall use any lure or bait other than artificial fly in the following waters and all their tributaries;

Hautapu, above the road bridge numbered 741/10.96 on State Highway 1 by the Taihape Golf Club;
Kopuaranga
Makuri, above the township bridge;
Mangatoro;
Wainuiomata, below main township bridge;

2.2 No licence holder when fishing for sports fish shall use any lure or bait other than artificial fly or spinner in the following waters and all their tributaries;

Rangitikei River upstream of the Matawhero Road bridge (commonly called the Mangaohane Bridge)
  1. DAILY BAG LIMIT

3.1 Hautapu River and tributaries 2 trout or salmon
Hokowhitu Lagoon 2 trout or salmon
Wainuiomata River and tributaries 2 trout or salmon
All waters upstream of the boundaries of the Ruahine,
Tararua or Rimutuka Conservation Parks 2 trout or salmon

3.2 Rangitikei River upstream of the confluence of Otarere Stream 1 trout or salmon

3.3 Rangitikei River upstream of the Matawhero Road Bridge
(commonly called Mangaohane Bridge) up to the confluence
of Otarere Stream 4 trout or salmon

3.4 All other waters no limit

  1. LENGTH LIMIT

4.1 There is no minimum length limit for sports fish taken in the Wellington Fish and Game region.

4.2 In the Rangitikei River upstream of the Matawhero Road bridge (commonly called the Mangaohane Bridge), no licence holder shall take or have in his or her possession any trout or salmon which exceeds 550 mm in length.

  1. AUTHORISED TACKLE, LURES AND BAIT

5.1 Authorised tackle (in addition to clause 2.1 of the First Schedule)
Licence holders may, when fishing for perch or tench, use a rod and line.

5.2 Authorised lures and baits (in addition to clause 7 of the First Schedule)
Licence holders may, when fishing for perch or tench, use corn.
