Civil Aviation Act 1990

Notice of Variation of a Scheduled International Air Service Licence

Pursuant to the Civil Aviation Act 1990, the State Sector Act 1988, and a delegation from the Secretary for Transport dated 28 August 1996, I, John Gibson Bradbury, General Manager International Relations in the Ministry of Transport, hereby give notice that I have exercised the power conferred by section 87Q of the Civil Aviation Act 1990 to amend the terms of the scheduled international air service licence issued to Thai Airways International to authorise the airline to operate, using any type of aircraft, 5 return services per week between Thailand and New Zealand.

This amendment took effect on 8 September 1999.

Summary of Exemptions Granted by the Director of Civil Aviation

Pursuant to section 37 of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, notification is hereby given of summaries of exemptions as set out in the Schedule hereto, granted by the Director of Civil Aviation.

Schedule

98/EXE/164—Subparts I and M

On 27 August 1999. To Airwork (NZ) Limited. From the requirement to ensure that each person designated as pilot-in-command of an aeroplane has acquired, prior to commencing the training specified in Subpart I or Subpart M for pilot-in-command, at least 500 hours in the type of operations to which Part 121 applies.

The exemption is granted only in respect of each person designated as pilot-in-command of the Fokker F27 Friendship type aircraft operated by Airwork (NZ) Limited on freight operations who has not acquired at least 500 hours in the type of operations to which Part 121 applies.

On 7 September 1999. To Air New Zealand Limited. From the requirement that each holder of an air operator certificate shall ensure, after each crew member completes a transition segment of its training programme the crew member undergoes consolidation by acquiring the appropriate line-operating flight time, for a pilot, required by 121.571:

Only in respect of the line operating flight time required in Civil Aviation Rule 121.571 (b) (i) for those pilots who—

(a) hold a 737-200 type rating; and

(b) have at least 12 months experience as a pilot on the 737-200 type aircraft; and

(c) have operated the 737-200 within the last 12 months; and

(d) are undergoing consolidation after completing the type rating differences training when transitioning from the 737-200 type aeroplane to the 737-300 type aeroplane.

Notice of the grant, withdrawal or denial of exemptions with provisos is also published in the Civil Aviation Rules Register Information Leaflet (CARRIL), dated 16 September 1999 which is available on the CAA website www.caa.govt.nz
