The Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975
The State-Owned Enterprises Act 1986
This notice concerns land at the corner of Pond Road and State Highway No. 29, Hinuera, and Maori claims under the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975.
The land at the corner of Pond Road and State Highway No. 29, Hinuera, is described in legal terms as all that parcel of land containing 4047 square metres, more or less, situated in Block IX, Tapapa Survey District, being Section 96A, Matamata Settlement (S.O. 13202) and being all the land comprised and described in certificate of title 48A/443 (South Auckland Registry).
The land was once owned by the Crown. It was transferred to a State-Owned Enterprise under the State-Owned Enterprises Act 1986.
There is a special notice or “memorial” on the certificate of title for the land which provides that, if the Waitangi Tribunal recommends return of the land, the Crown has the right to buy it back.
