Earthquake Commission Act 1993

Notice of Direction

I hereby give notice that the following direction has been given to the Board of the Earthquake Commission regarding the Commission’s investment policy.

“Pursuant to section 12 of the Earthquake Commission Act 1993, I make the following direction as to the policy to be followed by the Commission in the exercise of its investment powers:

The Earthquake Commission shall invest in its preferred mix of:

(i) non-tradeable New Zealand Government securities comprising Treasury bills and/or Government stock and/or Inflation-Indexed Bonds; and

(ii) up to a maximum of $250 million of New Zealand Bank bills.

The securities that form part of the Natural Disaster Fund shall be registered in the Earthquake Commission’s name.

This direction replaces previous Ministerial directions relating to investment policy (in particular the directions of 30 September 1988, 16 August 1993, 17 January 1994 and 12 December 1995).”

Income Tax Act 1994

Notice of Determination of Tax Depreciation Rates

Pursuant to section EG 14 of the Income Tax Act 1994, notice is hereby given that the Commissioner of the Inland Revenue Department has issued “Determination DEP36: Tax Depreciation Rates General Determination Number 36”, pursuant to section EG 4 of the Income Tax Act 1994. The determination may be cited as “Determination DEP36: Tax Depreciation Rates General Determination Number 36”.

Determination DEP36 will appear in Inland Revenue’s Tax Information Bulletin, Vol. 10, No. 6 of June 1998.

A copy of the determination is available from Inland Revenue offices.

Notice of Product Ruling

  1. This is a notice of a product ruling made under section 91F of the Tax Administration Act 1994.

  2. Product ruling No. 98/13 was issued on 28 May 1998. It relates to vehicle leasing, and the application of sections 9 (3), 10 (5) and 76 of the Goods and Services Tax Act 1985.
