Suggested solution Place all of the Taieri Plains area in the proposed Clutha-Southland Electorate cutting back the proposed Otago Electorate’s south eastern boundary to Lees Stream.

Objects to the inclusion of Riverton and the surrounding district in the proposed Invercargill Electorate on the grounds that Riverton’s community of interest is with Western Southland

Suggested solution To keep Riverton and the surrounding district in the proposed Clutha-Southland Electorate. The boundary between the proposed Clutha-Southland and Invercargill Electorates would follow east along the Mataura River to the outskirts of the Edendale Township and then turn left towards Invercargill. Woodlands and Morton Mains would be in the proposed Invercargill Electorate. This area’s community of interest with Invercargill is very strong.

61 002 b.h Objection N Elder

Suggested solution The area west of the old Invercargill Electorate be included in the proposed Clutha-Southland Electorate and to compensate an area east of Invercargill bounded by a line that follows the proposed boundary, and continues to follow the Makarewa River and Titipua Stream, then goes south down the road to Morton Mains, follows the road to Gorge Road, and then follows the Mataura River south to the sea should be included in the proposed Invercargill Electorate.
