Medicines Act 1981
A. Classification of Medicines
Pursuant to section 106 (1) of the Medicines Act 1981, I, Tuariki John Delamere, Associate Minister of Health, hereby declare the following:

The medicines listed in Schedule 1 to this notice are classified as prescription medicines.

The medicines listed in Schedule 2 to this notice are classified as restricted medicines.

The medicines listed in Schedule 3 to this notice are classified as pharmacy-only medicines.
Every reference to a medicine in this notice applies whether the medicine is synthetic in origin or is from biological or mineral sources.
Unless specific reference is made otherwise, every reference applies also to medicines that areβ
(a) Preparations and admixtures containing any proportion of any substance listed in the notice.
(b) Salts and esters of any substance listed in the notice.
(c) Preparations or extracts of biological materials listed in the notice.
(d) Salts or oxides of elements listed in the notice.
Where any reference is modified by a statement of the strength of the medicine, the strength is calculated using the free acid, base, alcohol or element unless specifically stated otherwise.

Alfuzosin
Brimonidine
Candesartan
Citalopram
Cyclopentolate; except when used in practice by a registered optometrist
Dolasetron
Donepezil
Gadoteric acid
Irbesartan
Latanoprost
Miglustat
Nelfinavir
Nevirapine
Quetiapine
Rivastigmine
Sodium phosphate; in oral bowel preparations
Tazarotene
Tiagabine
Tolcapone
Tramadol.
Schedule 2
Restricted Medicines
Nicotine; for inhalation; in sublingual tablets
Schedule 3
Pharmacy-only Medicines
Ephedrine
Methylephedrine.
B. Medicines for General Sale
Please note that the following medicines are no longer classified as prescription medicines, restricted medicines or pharmacy-only medicines. As such, they are now available for general sale:
Chlorbutol; in medicines containing 0.5% or less
Diclofenac; for topical use
Ketoconazole; in shampoos containing 1% or less.

Notice of Withdrawal of Product Ruling

This is a notice of a withdrawal of a product ruling made under section 91F of the Tax Administration Act 1994.

Product ruling 97/43 is hereby withdrawn, due to a change in the terms of the Issue Terms referred to in the Arrangement and so that the operation of the Arrangement is able to be clarified in a replacement ruling. It is replaced by product ruling 98/2

Product ruling 97/43 originally applied to investors in a fund for the period 1 October 1997 to 30 September 2002, and notice of its making appeared in the New Zealand Gazette of 28 May 1997.

Product ruling 97/43 is withdrawn on and from 22 January 1998.

This is a notice of a product ruling made under section 91F of the Tax Administration Act 1994.

Product ruling No. 97/93 was issued on 19 December 1997. It relates to an administration and reporting service, and the application of sections within the Income Tax Act 1994, the Goods and Services Tax Act 1985, and the Tax Administration Act 1994, as these relate to New Zealand resident investors.
