N o t i c e

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Fisheries (Quota Aggregation Limit Exemption) Notice (No. 8) 1998.

(2) This notice shall come into effect on the day after its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

  1. Interpretation—In this notice, “Talley’s Group” means Talley’s Fisheries Limited, Amaltal Corporation Limited, Ocean Products Limited and McDonald & Brown Limited, and any companies owned or controlled by those companies.

  2. Exemption to quota aggregation limit—As from the date that this notice comes into effect, the Talley’s Group is permitted to hold quota and interest in quota in excess of the aggregation limits as provided in section 28w (1) of the Fisheries Act 1983, up to the percentage limits as specified below:

(i) An aggregation limit of 45 percent of the combined Total Allowable Commercial Catch for each of the following species:

| Alfonsino | Ling |
| Barracouta | Orange Roughy |
| Blue Warehou | Oreo Dories |
| Gemfish | Packhorse Rock Lobster |
| Hake | Red Cod |

(ii) An aggregation limit of 35 percent of the combined Total Allowable Commercial Catch for each of the following species:

| Hoki | Silver Warehou |
| Jack Mackerel | Squid |
| Blue Cod | Tarakihi |
| Elephant Fish | Rig |
| Flatfish | School Shark |
| Gurnard | Snapper |
| Hapuku and Bass | Stargazer |
| John Dory |

(iii) An aggregation limit of 20 percent of the combined Total Allowable Commercial Catch for bluenose.

(iv) An aggregation limit up to 35 percent of the combined Total Allowable Commercial Catch for scallops.

  1. Revocation—The Fisheries (Quota Aggregation Limit Exemption) Notice (No. 4) 1997 and the Fisheries (Quota Aggregation Limit Exemption) Notice (No. 4) 1997, Amendment No. 1, are hereby revoked.

Pursuant to section 23 of the Medicines Act 1981, the Minister of Health hereby provisionally consents to the sale, supply or use in New Zealand of the new medicine set out in the Schedule hereto:
