Boards of Trustees Responsibilities Under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, and the Health and Safety Code of Practice for State Primary, Composite and Secondary Schools
Pursuant to section 70 of the Education Act 1989, and to a delegation from the Secretary of Education, I, Paul Dickson Burke, Group Manager Property, Ministry of Education, hereby give the following notice:
Notice
The Health and Safety Code of Practice for State Primary, Composite and Secondary Schools issued by the Ministry of Education in 1993, has now been updated and re-issued, pursuant to section 70 of the Education Act 1989. The Code has been revised to take into account the promulgation of the Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995, and to update references to the legislation and other related Codes of Practice and policies concerning health and safety, as it applies to school buildings and facilities. Copies of the Code will be issued to Boards of Trustees of all State (non-integrated) Schools.
The indemnity for monetary penalties under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 is still available providing Boards of Trustees observe the conditions as set out under the indemnity clause in the revised Code, which are similar to the conditions as set out under the original Code (Part 6 of the revised Code refers).

Supplementary Integration Agreement
Pursuant to section 10 of the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975, notice is given that a supplementary integration agreement has been signed between the Minister of Education on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, acting through the Senior Manager, National Operations, Ministry of Education, pursuant to delegated authority, and the proprietor of the following school:
St John’s College, Hamilton.
The said supplementary integration agreement was executed on the 17th day of November 1998. A copy of the supplementary integration agreement is available for inspection without charge by any member of the public at the district office of the Ministry of Education, corner of Grey and Bridge Streets, Hamilton.
