Matters at Full Assessment

The authority has made a preliminary assessment and accepted the following applications, developed the following proposal, and will now make full assessments of them:

Foods Produced Using Gene Technology (A338, A341, A346, A355, A362 and A363) Six applications from Monsanto Australia Limited seeking approval of certain foods derived from genetically modified crops to be included in table to clause 2 of Standard A18—Food Produced Using Gene Technology. In considering an application to amend the new standard the authority is required to make its assessment according to the ANZFA Safety assessment Guidelines for Foods Produced Using Gene Technology.

Processing Aids (P188) A proposal to review the recently established Standard A16, principally to seek comment regarding processing aids used in New Zealand but not recognised in the standard, with the intention of establishing a joint Australia New Zealand Standard.
