Exemption From Specified Requirements of the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990
Pursuant to regulation 36 of the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990, I, Martyn Jacob de Liefde, Vehicle Compliance Officer, hereby exempt the motor vehicle specified in Schedule 1 of this notice from the requirements of the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990 listed in Schedule 2, subject to the conditions specified in Schedule 3.

Conditions
(i) The items specified in Schedule 2 (except for seat belts and seat belt anchorages) must be within the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications;
(ii) The items specified in Schedule 2 must be in sound condition and good working order;
(iii)
(a) Static three-point lap and diagonal seat belts that comply with the appropriate vehicle standard are fitted in the front outboard sitting positions;
(b) All other sitting positions are fitted with the seat belts required by regulation 29;
(iv) All seat belts must be securely anchored to the vehicle and seat belt anchorages that are not the vehicle manufacturer’s original equipment must comply with Specification St 120395;
(v) This exemption may be revoked at any time;
(vi) A copy of this notice must be carried in the vehicle at all times and be readily available for inspection.

Approved Maritime Surveillance Equipment Under the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996
Whereas, pursuant to section 441 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Minister of Transport did delegate those powers under section 35 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to the Maritime Safety Authority by an Instrument of Delegation dated 19 March 1997.
And whereas, pursuant to section 442 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Maritime Safety Authority did delegate those powers under section 35 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to the Director of Maritime Safety by an Instrument of Delegation dated 26 March 1997.
And whereas, pursuant to section 443 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994 the Director of Maritime Safety did delegate those powers under section 35 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to me by an Instrument of Delegation dated 26 March 1997.
Therefore I, John Norman Keith Mansell, Divisional Manager, Maritime Operations, hereby approve the following equipment to be approved maritime surveillance equipment for the purposes of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996:

Video Camera Panasonic NV-VX30A
Camcorder VHS video camera
operated in association with patrol helicopter for the Cook Strait CPZ Patrol whilst working in or near the protected area designated “Area 7—Cook Strait” and while under the direct control of or working under instructions given in writing by Transport New Zealand Limited.
This notice comes into effect on and from the 25th day of September 1998.
