Lake Wanaka, within 150 metres of any part of the launch wharf at the township of Wanaka:
Lake Wanaka, within 100 metres of any part of the wharf at the Wanaka Marina:
Lake Wakatipu, within the waters of Queenstown Bay bounded by a straight line drawn from the outermost point of the Tourist Park to the point where the south bank of One Mile Creek meets Lake Wakatipu:
Lake Wakatipu, within 100 metres of any part of the wharf in Black Bay (commonly known as the Walter Peak Jetty):
Mill Creek (which flows into Lake Hayes), from the Speargrass Flat Road bridge to the source:
All waters in which sports fish are held in captivity for display, hatching, or other purposes, or within a distance of 100 metres from any part of the outer boundaries of such waters.

4. AUTHORISED TACKLE

4.1 No person when fishing for sports fish shall use -
4.1.1 More than 3 lures or baits:
4.2.2 Any bait or lure treated with any chemical preparation other than -
(a) In the case of artificial fly, preparations used solely to give buoyancy to such flies; and
(b) In the case of natural baits, a formalin or other preservative preparation:
4.2.3 Any hook which has a gape greater than 14 mm between the point and the nearest part of the hook.

5. FLY FISHING ONLY WATERS

No person when fishing for sports fish shall use any lure or bait other than artificial fly in the following waters:

5.1 Deans Bank, meaning that portion of the Clutha River lying downstream between a point indicated by a Black, White and Yellow landmark post approximately 600 metres from the outlet of Lake Wanaka, and a point indicated by a Black, White and Yellow landmark post, approximately 600 metres above the bridge at Albert Town.

5.2 All rivers and streams flowing into Lake Wakatipu, except the Dart River and the Rees River and their tributaries.

5.3 Nevis River.

5.4 Routeburn River.

6. BAITS FISHING WATERS

6.1 Subject to subclause (5), no person when fishing for sports fish shall use any lure or bait other than artificial fly or lure in the following waters:

(a) Clutha River upstream from Luggate Bridge:
(b) Sullivans Dam:
(c) Southern Reservoir:
(d) Lake Wakatipu and tributaries:
(e) Lake Wanaka and tributaries:

6.2 Notwithstanding the above all methods are permissible in the following waters:

(a) Clutha River, from Luggate Bridge to Lake Dunstan:
(b) Lake Hayes and all streams flowing into or out of:
(c) Lake Hawea:
(d) Lake Johnson:
(e) Kawarau River:

6.3 All methods are permissible in all other waters within the region other than 6.1 & 6.2.

7. RESTRICTIONS ON USE OF BOATS

7.1 No person shall fish from, or tow any lure from, any mechanically propelled boat on: Lake Dispute, Lake Hayes, Lake Johnson, Moke Lake or Reid Lake.

7.2 No person shall fish from a boat on Lake Kirkpatrick.

7.3 Subject to subclause (4) of this clause, no person shall troll from a mechanically propelled boat within 100 metres of any person fishing from the shore.

7.4 No person in fishing for sports fish shall troll from any boat in any river or stream except the Taieri River downstream from Henley Ferry bridge, and the Clutha River downstream from Balclutha.
