4.3.4 May cast other than from the reel or retrieve other than by winding the reel only when using bait, or fly fishing or when fishing with an artificial fly seaward of a line drawn between the 2 poles situated near the upstream limit of the estuarine area.

4.4 A licence holder when fishing for sportsfish in the Opihi River or its tributaries may cast other than from the reel or retrieve other than by winding the reel only when fly fishing or bait fishing.

4.5 When bait fishing for sportsfish licence holders shall not use more than three single hooks or two single and one triple.

5. FLY FISHING ONLY WATERS

Ahuriri River Lagoons
Any High Country tarn or lagoon
Cameron, Loch
Deep Stream, a tributary to Lake Aviemore
Denny, Lake
Donn, Lake
Emily, Lake
Hakataramea River
Hinds River, provided that a Child or Junior licence holder may fish with any lawful lure

Maerewhenua River
Maori Lakes
Merino, Lake
Ohapi Stream
Omarama Stream upstream from SH 8 bridge
Poaka, Lake
Roundabout, Lake
Spider, Lake
Tengawai River

6. BAIT FISHING WATERS

6.1 Bait fishing is not permitted in the following waters (tributaries included):

Ahuriri River
Alexandrina, Lake
Ashburton River North Branch
Ashburton River South Branch upstream from and including the junction of Taylors Stream
Benmore, Lake if fished from a boat or flotation device
Camp, Lake
Clearwater, Lake
Emma, Lake
Kakanui River upstream from Five Forks bridge
Macgregor, Lake
Mystery, Lake

Ohau, Lake if fished from a boat or flotation device
Ohau River
Otemata River
Otenatapaio River
Rangitata River
Rangitata River upstream from the white posts on the riverbanks at Turn Again Point
Tekapo River tributaries
Twizel River
Waihao River upstream from the Waihao Forks Bridges
Winter Fishing Rivers during the winter season.

7. USE OF BOATS

7.1 Fishing from boats is prohibited in:

Camp, Lake
Denny, Lake
Donn, Lake
Emily, Lake

Kellands Pond
Roundabout, Lake
Spider, Lake
Wairepo Arm of Lake Ruataniwha

That part of the Region seaward of the Rangitata River mouth, except from an anchored boat between the hours of 7.00 am and 9.00 pm on any day at a seaward distance greater than 200 metres from the nearest shore at low tide. The seaward boundary of the Central South Island Region around the Rangitata River mouth is a line drawn at a distance of 500 metres from any place where at low tide the waters of the river meet the waters of the sea.

7.2 Fishing from any unmoored boat is prohibited in:

Emma, Lake
MacGregor, Lake

Maori Lakes
Middleton, Lake
