Maritime Transport Act 1994
Declaration Under the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996
Whereas, pursuant to section 441 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Minister of Transport did delegate those powers under section 12 (6) of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to the Maritime Safety Authority by an Instrument of Delegation, dated 19 March 1997.
And whereas, pursuant to section 442 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Maritime Safety Authority did delegate those powers under section 12 (6) of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to the Director of Maritime Safety by an Instrument of Delegation, dated 26 March 1997.
And whereas, pursuant to section 443 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime Safety did delegate those powers under section 12 (6) of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to me by an Instrument of Delegation, dated 26 March 1997.
Therefore I, John Norman Keith Mansell, Divisional Manager, Maritime Operations, hereby make the following declaration:
Declaration
The Order in Council under section 12 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996, entitled the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Order 1992, shall not apply in respect of the following ships:
- Rangatahi I
- Koru II
- Kaharoa
- Any other ship contracted by NIWA (National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research Limited)
and workboats, zodiacs and small craft associated with those ships whilst working in the protected areas designated “Area 2—Hauraki Gulf” and “Area 5—Muriwai Beach”, for the purpose of marine survey activity for the Southern Cross Cable Network under the control of Telecom New Zealand Limited and other equity owners of the Southern Cross Cable Network, for the period required to complete any work.
This notice comes into effect on and from the 3rd day of September 1998.

Pursuant to section 35 (3) of the Pork Industry Board Act 1997, notice is hereby given that the levy on pigs slaughtered on licensed premises as from and including the 1st day of October 1998, shall be $4.40 plus G.S.T.

The Authorised Futures Dealers Notice (No. 3) 1998
Pursuant to section 38 of the Securities Amendment Act 1988, the Securities Commission gives the following notice:
Notice
- Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Authorised Futures Dealers Notice (No. 3) 1998.
(2) This notice shall come into force on the day of its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.
- Interpretation—(1) In this notice, unless the context otherwise requires:
“Act” means the Securities Amendment Act 1988;
“company” means New Zealand Assets Management Limited.
(2) Any term or expression that is not defined in this notice, but is defined in the Act, has the meaning given to it by the Act.
- Authorisation—(1) The company is authorised to carry on the business of dealing in futures contracts generally.
(2) The authorisation is subject to the conditions that:
(a) the company does not hold client money or client property in connection with futures contract dealing;
(b) the company does not enter into any futures contract as a principal on behalf of any client;
(c) the company does not carry on the business of dealing in futures contracts on behalf of any person other than one who has entered into a contract for investment management services with the company, and then only in accordance with the terms of that contract; and
(d) the company does not carry on the business of dealing in futures contracts other than for the purposes of its investment portfolio management business.
(3) The authorisation continues in force until it is revoked by the Commission.
