Appointments, Promotions, Extensions, Transfers, Resignations and Retirements of Officers of the Royal New Zealand Navy

Pursuant to section 32 of the Defence Act 1990, His Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Naval Forces.

ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVY

Commodore Karl Robert Moen, C.B.E., is placed on the Retired List of the RNZN with effect from 4 November 1996.

Captain R.J. Gillbanks to be acting Commodore with effect from 23 September 1996, and Commodore with seniority and effect from 30 September 1996.

Surgeon Captain John Rex Monigatti, M.B., Ch.B., M.F.O.M., M.R.C.P., is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserve with effect from 2 October 1996.

The following are placed on the Retired List of the RNZN with effect from the date shown:

Chaplain David Arthur George North, B.A., B.D., 20 September 1996.

Commander Susan Jane Taylor, M.B.E., is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserve with effect from 9 November 1996.

The appointment of Lieutenant Commander E.D.J. Isaac, M.B.E., is extended until 8 October 1999.

Lieutenant Commander C. Quincey, M.B.E., to be acting Commander with effect from 9 December 1996.

The appointment of Lieutenant Commander L.H.J. Rayner is extended until 29 June 1998.

Surgeon Lieutenant Commander James David Woodfine, M.B., Ch.B., DIP.OBST., F.A.C.O.M., is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserve with effect from 29 December 1996.

Lieutenant Commander P.G. Sullivan, B.E.(ELECT.), to be acting Commander with effect from 13 December 1996.

Lieutenant Commander Stephen Middleton Barham is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserve with effect from 17 September 1996.

Lieutenant Commander G.I. Lowe, M.E., B.E.(MECH.)(HONS), N.Z.C.E.(MECH.), to be Commander with seniority and effect from 16 December 1996.

Lieutenant Commander Lawrence Francis McGuire, B.E., M., is placed on the Retired List of the RNZN with effect from 14 December 1996.

Lieutenant Commander Dennis George Pringle, Retired List, is re-appointed to the RNZN in his present rank, with seniority from 30 August 1982 and effect from 2 July 1996.

David Nicholas Hedgley, RN (Rtd), is appointed to the RNZN in the rank of Lieutenant Commander, with seniority from 1 November 1987 and effect from 28 August 1996.

Lieutenant Albert William Lowndes is placed on the Retired List of the RNZN with effect from 3 November 1996.

Lieutenant C.B.X. Cliffe to be Lieutenant Commander with seniority and effect from 1 November 1996.

Lieutenant Robert Alan Cook is placed on the Retired List of the RNZN with effect from 9 October 1996.

The appointment of Lieutenant Glenn Whiu is terminated with effect from 27 June 1996.

The seniority of Lieutenant S. Davis, B.SOC.SC.(HONS), is post-dated to 21 March 1994 with effect from 7 October 1996.

Lieutenant R.A. Fordyce, B.TECH.(COMP.)(HONS): with reference to the notice published in the Gazette, 14 December 1995, No. 147, page 4771, for the effective dates “6 December 1992” and “1 January 1995” substitute “6 June 1992” and “1 July 1994”.

Chaplain Class IV Peter Christopher Roe, B.TH., is transferred from the RNZNVR in his present rank, with seniority from 9 September 1991 and effect from 14 October 1996.

Stephen Michael Flavill, RN (Rtd), is appointed to the RNZN in the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 1 April 1990 and effect from 7 November 1996.

Acting Lieutenant N.R. Finnerty, B.E.(N.A.), to be Lieutenant with seniority from 28 June 1992 and effect from 12 July 1996.

Acting Lieutenant G.J.B. Weir, B.E.(ELECT.), to be Lieutenant with seniority from 4 September 1994 and effect from 28 August 1995.
