Approval of Code of Ethical Conduct Notice No. 1063 (300-A1-07)

Pursuant to section 19A (6) of the Animals Protection Act 1960, I hereby give notice that on the advice of the National Animal Ethics Advisory Committee, I have approved, on the date of this notice, the code of ethical conduct submitted to me by Animal Health Centre, which is the same as the approved code of ethical conduct of New Zealand Pastoral Agriculture Research Institute Limited.

as deputy chairperson of the Broadcasting Commission for a term of 3 years from 16 July 1997, pursuant to section 45 of the Broadcasting Act 1989;

and reappointed

Pamela Joy Meekings-Stewart

as a member of the Broadcasting Commission for a term of 3 years from 16 July 1997, pursuant to section 45 of the Broadcasting Act 1989.

Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978

Declaration of Species of Marine Mammal to be a Threatened Species

Pursuant to section 2(3) of the Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978, and after having regard to relevant international standards and relevant standards within New Zealand, I hereby declare the New Zealand (Hooker’s) sea lion (Phocarctos hookeri) to be a threatened species for the purposes of the Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978.

Order for Confiscation of Motor Vehicle

Pursuant to Section 84 of the Criminal Justice Act 1985

On 14 July 1997, at the District Court at Tauranga, Dean Gable Rata Hika of 25 Haukore Street, Tauranga, was convicted and sentenced to 9 months supervision and disqualified from holding or obtaining a motor driver’s licence for 2 years from 14 July 1997, following his conviction on 14 July 1997 for an offence of driving with excess breath alcohol concentration.

And in addition to the above-mentioned penalty, Judge D. C. McKegg has ordered that a

Mitsubishi Mirage motor vehicle, registered No. JF 1382

owned by the above-mentioned defendant, Dean Gable Rata Hika, be forfeited to Her Majesty the Queen, pursuant to section 84 (4) of the Criminal Justice Act 1985. The vehicle is to be surrendered to the Registrar, District Court, Tauranga, or a bailiff of the District Court, Tauranga by 4.00 p.m. on the 14th day of July 1997.

Order for Confiscation of Motor Vehicle

Pursuant to Section 84 of the Criminal Justice Act 1985

On 21 July 1997, at the District Court at Tauranga, Lyall Alexander Campbell of 688 Papamoa Beach Road, Papamoa, was convicted and sentenced to 2 months periodic detention and disqualified from holding or obtaining a motor driver’s licence indefinitely, pursuant to section 30A of the Transport Act 1965, following his conviction on 21 July 1997, for the offences of driving with excess breath alcohol concentration and driving whilst disqualified having been previously convicted of driving whilst disqualified.

And in addition to the above-mentioned penalty, Judge A. E. Gaskell has ordered that a
