Broadcasting Act 1989

Notice to the Broadcasting Commission in Relation to Administrative Expenses

To: The Broadcasting Commission.

Pursuant to section 49 (1) of the Broadcasting Act 1989, I hereby give you notice that you may spend $1,488,000 (one million, four hundred and eighty-eight thousand dollars) excluding G.S.T. or $1,674,000 (one million, six hundred and seventy-four thousand dollars) including G.S.T., on account of administrative expenses, excluding those administrative expenses involved in collecting the public broadcasting fees, in the financial year commencing on the 1st day of July 1997 and ending with the close of the 30th day of June 1998.

Notice to Te Reo Whakapuaki Irirangi (known as Te Mangai Paho) in Relation to Administration Expenses

To: Te Reo Whakapuaki Irirangi.

Pursuant to section 53M of the Broadcasting Act 1989 (as inserted by the Broadcasting Amendment Act 1993), I hereby give you notice that you may spend $711,111.10 (seven hundred and eleven thousand, one hundred and eleven dollars and ten cents) excluding G.S.T. or $800,000 (eight hundred thousand dollars) including G.S.T., on account of your administrative expenses in the financial year commencing on the 1st day of July 1997 and ending with the close of the 30th day of June 1998.

Notice to Te Reo Whakapuaki Irirangi (known as Te Mangai Paho) in Relation to Administration Expenses

To: Te Reo Whakapuaki Irirangi.

Pursuant to section 53M of the Broadcasting Act 1989 (as inserted by the Broadcasting Amendment Act 1993), I hereby give you notice that you may spend an additional $50,000 (fifty thousand dollars) excluding G.S.T. or $56,000 (fifty-six thousand dollars) including G.S.T., to meet a contingent liability arising from legal expenses in the 1996/97 year.

Appointment of Member of the Commerce Commission

Pursuant to section 9 of the Commerce Act 1986, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint

to be a member of the Commerce Commission for a period of 3 years, commencing on 13 July 1997.

Criminal Justice Act 1985

Order for Confiscation of Motor Vehicle

Pursuant to Section 84 of the Criminal Justice Act 1985

On the 23rd day of June 1997, at the District Court at Tauranga, Shane Todd of 19A Tamatea Place, Taupo, was convicted and sentenced to 9 months supervision and disqualified from holding or obtaining a motor driver’s licence for 18 months from following his conviction on the 23rd day of June 1997 for an offence of driving with excess breath alcohol.

And in addition to the above-mentioned penalty, Judge McKegg has ordered that a Toyota Hi-Ace motor vehicle, registered number KD 1526 owned by the above-mentioned defendant, be forfeited to Her Majesty, pursuant to section 84 (4) of the Criminal Justice Act 1985.

The vehicle is to be surrendered to the Registrar, District Court, Tauranga, or a bailiff of the District Court, Tauranga by 9.00 a.m. on the 24th day of June 1997.

Order for Confiscation of Motor Vehicle

Pursuant to Section 84 of the Criminal Justice Act 1985

On the 13th day of June 1997, at the District Court at Tauranga, Myles Werahiko Jones of 625 Upper Papamoa Road, Papamoa, was convicted and sentenced to 6 months periodic detention and disqualified from holding or obtaining a motor driver’s licence for 12 months from 13 June 1997, following his conviction on 13 June 1997 for an offence of driving whilst disqualified.

And in addition to the above-mentioned penalty, Judge I. B. Thomas has ordered that a Ford Escort motor vehicle, registered number ST 3879 owned by the above-mentioned defendant, Myles Werahiko Jones, be forfeited to Her Majesty, pursuant to section 84 (4) of the Criminal Justice Act 1985.

The vehicle is to be surrendered to the Registrar, District Court, Tauranga, or a bailiff of the District Court, Tauranga by 4.00 p.m. on the 18th day of June 1997.
