In terms of section 54 (3) of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Act 1989, I hereby notify my appointment of

as a director of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand for a 5 year term with effect on and from 9 June 1997.

Securities Amendment Act 1988

The Authorised Futures Dealers Notice 1997 (No. 4)

Pursuant to section 38 of the Securities Amendment Act 1988, the Securities Commission gives the following notice.

Notice

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Authorised Futures Dealers Notice 1997 (No. 4).

(2) This notice comes into force on the day of its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.

  1. Interpretation—(1) In this notice, unless the context otherwise requires:

“the Act” means the Securities Amendment Act 1988.

(2) Any term or expression that is not defined in this notice, but that is defined in the Act, has the meaning given to it by the Act.

  1. Merrill Lynch (Australia) Futures Limited authorised to carry on the business of dealing in futures contracts—Merrill Lynch (Australia) Futures Limited is hereby authorised to carry on the business of dealing in futures contracts generally.

(2) The authorisation referred to in subclause (1) of this clause is subject to the condition that Merrill Lynch (Australia) Futures Limited:

(a) is a public broker within the meaning of the rules of the Exchange; and

(b) is bound by the rules of the Exchange; and

that the authorisation applies only in respect of futures contracts made on or effected through the Exchange or a futures exchange in a country other than New Zealand which is authorised by the laws of that country to operate as a futures exchange.

(3) The authorisation granted by subclause (1) of this clause shall continue in force until it is revoked by the Commission.

Transit New Zealand

Transit New Zealand Act 1989

Declaring State Highway to be Limited Access Road: State Highway No. 1 Atiamuri River to State Highway 1/5 Junction

It is notified that Transit New Zealand, by resolution dated 4 June 1997 and pursuant to section 88 (1) of the Transit New Zealand Act 1989, hereby declares that part of State Highway No. 1 commencing at Atiamuri River Bridge south abutment (at RP 576/0.11) and proceeding generally in a southerly direction to the State Highway 1/5 Junction (at RP 592/14.70), a distance of 31.69 kilometres, as more particularly shown in plans LA 20/18/1, LA 20/19/1 and LA 20/19/2 and accompanying schedules held in the office of the Regional State Highway Manager, Transit New Zealand, Hamilton and there available for public inspection, to be a limited access road.

Declaring State Highway to be Limited Access Road: State Highway No. 30 Kawerau West Loop Road to Maunders Road

It is notified that Transit New Zealand, by resolution dated 4 June 1997 and pursuant to section 88 (1) of the Transit New Zealand Act 1989, hereby declares that part of State Highway No. 30 commencing at Kawerau West Loop Road (at RP 187/7.10) proceeding in a generally easterly direction to Maunders Road (at RP 208/5.67), a distance of 19.64 kilometres, as more particularly shown in plans LA 23/1567/1, LA 23/1567/2 and LA 23/1567/4 and accompanying schedules held in the office of the Regional State Highway Manager, Transit New Zealand, Hamilton, and there available for public inspection, to be a limited access road.

Bylaw Regulating the Speed of Vehicles on State Highways

Pursuant to section 61 (3) of the Transit New Zealand Act 1989, Transit New Zealand hereby makes the following bylaw:

Bylaw

  1. Title and Commencement—This bylaw may be cited as the Transit New Zealand (Speed of Vehicles on State Highways) Bylaw 1997/12 and shall come into force 28 days after its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.

  2. Interpretation—In this bylaw—“Vehicle” has the same meaning as in the Transport Act 1962.

  3. Limiting speed of vehicles on State highways—No person shall drive or take or permit to be driven or taken any vehicle at a speed exceeding 60 kilometres per hour on the sections of State highways described in this bylaw.
