Appointments, Promotions, Extensions, Transfers, Resignations and Retirements of Officers of the New Zealand Army

Pursuant to section 32 of the Defence Act 1990, His Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Army.

REGULAR FORCE

Appointments to Commission

Martin Henry Neale, is appointed to a commission in the Regular Force in the rank of Major with seniority and effect from 1 April 1997.

Geoffrey Robert Barton, is appointed to a commission in the Regular Force in the rank of Captain with seniority and effect from 1 April 1997.

Kiely Frances Pepper, is appointed to a commission in the Regular Force on a fixed engagement of 3 years in the rank of Lieutenant with seniority from 8 January 1994, and with effect from 8 January 1996.

Royal Regiment of NZ Artillery

Captain I. W. Cotton, is transferred to the Army Reserve, General List of Officers with effect from 20 December 1996.

Captain C. M. W. Pederson, M.A. (HONS), is posted to the Retired List with effect from 31 January 1997.

Lieutenant D. E. McKay, is transferred from the Territorial Force on a fixed engagement of 3 years with effect from 1 April 1997.

Royal NZ Armoured Corps

Acting Lieutenant Colonel A. G. Connell, to be Major with effect from 25 March 1997.

Acting Captain and Quartermaster M. B. O. Duncan, to be Captain and Quartermaster with seniority and effect from 15 March 1997.

Captain and Quartermaster W. R. Leslie, is posted to the Retired List with effect from 20 January 1997.

Captain G. D. Tetzlaff, is posted to the Retired List with effect from 8 January 1997.

2nd Lieutenant S. J. C. Strombom, is transferred to the Army Reserve General List of Officers with effect from 21 February 1997.

The Corps of Royal NZ Engineers

Captain D. N. Baxter, to be Major with seniority and effect from 11 November 1996.

Captain S. H. N. Williams, B.Sc.(CE)(HONS), is transferred to the Regular Force on a fixed engagement of 3 years with effect from 5 April 1997.

Lieutenant R. J. Buttenshaw, is posted to the Retired List with effect from 29 March 1997.

Royal NZ Corps of Signals

Captain S. G. Kett, is posted to the Retired List with effect from 30 March 1997.

Acting Captain and Quartermaster N. J. Rings, to be Captain and Quartermaster with seniority from 12 August 1993, and with effect from 3 February 1997.

Royal NZ Infantry Regiment

Major A. M. Howard: With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette, 27 March 1997, No. 29, page 702, substitute Hayward.

Acting Lieutenant Colonel B. A. Smith, to be Major with effect from 3 March 1997.

Acting Major D. T. Samuels, to be Major with seniority from 19 December 1996, and with effect from 21 January 1997.

Captain G. W. Benfell, is transferred from the Territorial Force on a fixed engagement of 3 years with effect from 21 April 1997.

Captain G. J. Lawrence, is transferred to the Army Reserve, General List of Officers with effect 23 October 1996.

Captain C. J. Huston, is re-engaged until 21 April 2000.

Captain J. S. Emerson, is transferred to the Army Reserve General List of Officers with effect from 3 March 1997.

Captain J. C. Tinsley, is posted to the Retired List with effect from 30 October 1996.

Captain J. S. Hayes, is posted to the Retired List with effect from 29 March 1997.

Lieutenant T. P. Te Moana, is transferred to the Army Reserve General List of Officers with effect from 23 October 1996.

Lieutenant E. J. Robinson, to be acting Captain with effect from 13 March 1997.

Royal NZ Army Medical Corps

Major M. H. Hunter, M.B., Ch.B., F.R.A.C.S., is posted to the Army Reserve General List of Officers with effect from 28 November 1996.

Captain C. W. Hoffman, M.B., Ch.B., is transferred to the Regular Force on a fixed engagement of 4 years in the rank of Major, with seniority and effect from 11 February 1997.

2nd Lieutenant J. S. Fortune, to be Lieutenant with seniority from 6 January 1995, and with effect from 10 January 1997.

Royal NZ Army Logistic Regiment

Major L. D. Murch, is transferred to the Army Reserve General List of Officers with effect from 25 January 1997.

Major T. J. Marsden: With reference to notice published in New Zealand Gazette, 27 March 1997, No. 29, page 702, substitute 13 January 1997, for 21 January 1997.

Captain and Quartermaster M. B. Tucker, to be Major and Quartermaster with seniority and effect from 13 January 1997.

Captain and Quartermaster C. M. Ballard, is transferred to the Army Reserve, General List of Officers with effect from 7 January 1997.

Captain O. Raurtei, is posted to the Retired List with effect from 29 March 1997.

Lieutenant G. T. White, is posted to the Retired List with effect from 15 March 1997.

Lieutenant M. A. Wirihana, is posted to the Army Reserve General List of Officers with effect from 31 January 1997.

Lieutenant H. J. Cooper, to be acting Captain with effect from 17 March 1997.
