Definition of Areas

Area A: Paradise duck (3 May - 13 July 1997, bag limit 8 per day). Hunting is permitted in all that land in the Southland Fish and Game Region north of State Highway 1, between Mataura, Gore and Pukerau and north of State Highway 96 between Mataura, Winton and Wreys Bush and west of and including the Aparima catchment.

Area B: Paradise duck (3 May - 13 July 1997, bag limit 4 per day). Hunting is permitted in all of the remaining land in the Southland Fish and Game Region not described in Area A.

Shooting Hours: 7.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. or any period within these hours except that during the period 14 July to 29 March 1998 inclusive Canada Goose may be hunted or killed 24 hours per day during the specified open season.

Decoy Limit: No limit

Special Conditions

Shooting from boats is prohibited during the month of May 1997 on the Mataura, Aparima, Oreti, Waiau and Waimatuku Rivers and their navigable tributaries.
