Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988

Notice of Review of Need for Continued Imposition of Anti-dumping Duty on Hog Bristle Paintbrushes From China

I hereby give notice that, pursuant to section 14 (8) of the Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988, I have initiated a review of the need for the continued imposition of anti-dumping duty on the goods described in the Schedule to this notice. The duty was imposed by the Acting Minister of Customs in a notice dated 31 May 1988, published in the New Zealand Gazette of 2 June 1988, and amended in a notice given by the Minister of Commerce dated 2 April 1992, published in the New Zealand Gazette of 9 April 1992.

Description of Goods

Hog bristle paintbrushes for household or industrial use.

The goods are currently classified under Tariff Item and Statistical Key 9603.40.00 02D of the Tariff of New Zealand, which classification is provided for convenience and Customs purposes only, the written description being dispositive.

Invitation for Submissions

Interested parties are invited to make submissions to the Trade Remedies Group, Ministry of Commerce, P.O. Box 1473, Wellington.


Acceptance of Undertaking in Respect of Canned Apricots From South Africa

Pursuant to section 15 of the Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988, I hereby give notice that I have accepted an undertaking from Langeberg Foods International and Ashton Canning Co (Pty) Limited, that they will so conduct future exports to New Zealand of canned apricots to avoid causing or threatening to cause material injury to a New Zealand industry. The investigation into the subsidisation of exports by South African suppliers other than those specified above shall be continued and completed.

Notice is also given, pursuant to section 15 (4) of the Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988, that the investigation of the extent of the injury to the industry caused by exports by Langeberg Foods International and Ashton Canning Co (Pty) Limited of canned apricots from South Africa shall be continued and completed.
