Exemption of Certain Motor Vehicles From Requirements of the Traffic Regulations 1976 Relating to Auxiliary Headlamps
Pursuant to regulation 90 (1) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, I, John Andrew Justice, Senior Engineer, hereby exempt the motor vehicles specified in Schedule 1 of this notice from the requirements of regulation 65 (a) of said regulations, subject to the conditions specified in Schedule 2.
The New Zealand Gazette notice entitled “Exemption of Certain Motor Vehicles From Requirements Relating to Auxiliary Headlamps”, published on 5 July 1990, Issue Number 113, page 2311 and referenced as go7354, is hereby revoked.
Schedule 1
Motor vehicles (other than mopeds) having front fog lamps fitted.
Schedule 2
(a) One fog lamp must be fitted on motor cycles, two fog lamps must be fitted on vehicles other than motor cycles.
(b) The fog lamp(s) must comply with one or more of the following standards:
- Economic Commission for Europe Regulation ECE 19,
- European Economic Community Directive EEC 76/762,
- Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard FMVSS 108,
- Japanese Industrial Standard JIS D5500,
- Australian Design Rule ADR 50 together with ADR 13.
(c) The fog lamp(s) must be forward facing and, when lit, display a light substantially white or amber in colour.
(d) The fog lamp(s) must be properly installed in a permanently dipped position.
(e) The fog lamp(s) must be electrically connected so that it/they cannot be used with the headlamp(s) on high beam.
(f) No other auxiliary headlamps may be fitted on the vehicle.

Exemption From Specified Requirements of the Traffic Regulations 1976
Pursuant to regulation 90 (1) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, I, John Andrew Justice, Senior Engineer, hereby exempt the motor vehicle specified in Schedule 1 of this notice from the requirements of the Traffic Regulations 1976 listed in Schedule 2, subject to the conditions specified in Schedule 3 of this notice.

Conditions
(i) The vehicle’s original equipment seat belts are fitted in the front seating positions and lap seat belts that comply with an approved vehicle standard are fitted in the rear seating positions.
(ii) The seat belts are in good condition and not repaired or modified in any way.
(iii) Any replacement seat belt must comply with an approved standard.
(iv) This exemption may be revoked at any time.
(v) A copy of this notice must be carried in the vehicle at all times and be readily available for inspection.
