Draft Policy Document
Dietary Modelling: Principles and Procedures. The authority has developed a draft policy document on dietary modelling as part of its risk assessment procedures for review of food standards and formulation of policy. The document outlines the dietary modelling principles and procedures for use in dietary exposure assessments of food additives, contaminants, agricultural and veterinary chemicals and nutrients.
You are invited to present written submissions to the authority on matters relevant to this matter by 14 February 1998. A copy of the draft policy document is available on request, from the authority.
Matters at Full Assessment
The authority has made a preliminary assessment and accepted the following application; prepared the following proposal; and will now make a full assessment of it:
Maximum Residues Limits (A349). An application received on 13 October 1997 from the National Registration Authority to register or vary Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) for a number of agricultural chemicals. In accordance with the transitional arrangements for food standards between Australia and New Zealand, individual country MRLs for agricultural and veterinary chemicals continue to apply for these standards and this application proposes changes for MRLs for food sold in Australia, whether imported or domestically produced.
You are invited to present written submissions to the authority on matters relevant to this application, including the potential regulatory impact on consumers, industry and government, by 29 January 1998. The information paper on this matter provides further information, including advice on the authority’s policy regarding submissions.
Review of Specific Labelling Statements on Pack Food (P161)
A proposal to consider principles and options for the declaration of specific labelling statements which should apply to packaged foods and unpackaged foods where appropriate.
You are invited to present written submissions to the authority on matters relevant to this proposal, including the potential regulatory impact on consumers, industry and government, by 14 February 1998. The information paper on this matter provides further information, including advice on the authority’s policy regarding submissions.
