Summary of Exemptions Granted by the Director of Civil Aviation

Pursuant to section 37 of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, notification is hereby given of exemptions, set out in the Schedule hereto, granted by the Director of Civil Aviation.

Nature of exemptions granted:

Docket 98/EXE/18.—On 30 August 1997. To C & J Trading being the applicant for the grant of a standard category airworthiness certificate for an imported Robinson R22B helicopter, serial No. 0830. Exempt from the requirement of civil aviation rule 21.191 (a) (ii) to provide the director with evidence that a statement of conformity has been issued by, or in accordance with the rules of the airworthiness authority of the exporting country.

Docket 98/EXE/26.—On 12 September 1997. To Stevenson Skywork Helicopters Limited. Exempt from the requirement of civil aviation rule 135.605 (a) (2) that as holder of an air operator certificate it shall ensure that each person performing the functions of a flight examiner in its competency assessment programme established under Part 135 has an appropriate current flight examiner rating.

This exemption shall apply until 3 months after a flight examiner rating has been established by an amendment to Part 61, unless withdrawn earlier by notice in writing by the director.

Docket 98/EXE/27.—On 30 August 1997. To C & J Trading being the applicant for the grant of a standard category airworthiness certificate for an imported Robinson R22B helicopter, serial No. 1003. Exempt from the requirement of civil aviation rule 21.191 (a) (ii) to provide the director with evidence that a statement of conformity has been issued by, or in accordance with the rules of the airworthiness authority of the exporting country.

Docket 98/EXE/28.—On 30 August 1997. To C & J Trading being the applicant for the grant of a standard category airworthiness certificate for an imported Robinson R22B helicopter, serial No. 0829. Exempt from the requirement of civil aviation rule 21.191 (a) (ii) to provide the director with evidence that a statement of conformity has been issued by, or in accordance with the rules of the airworthiness authority of the exporting country.

Docket 98/EXE/35.—On 15 October 1997. To Tranzglabal Holdings Limited. Exempt pilots employed, engaged, or otherwise contracted by Tranzglabal Holdings Limited from the requirements of civil aviation rules:

(a) 43.51 (a) to allow those pilots to perform engine compressor washes and to install and remove seats;

and

(b) 43.101 (a) to allow those pilots to certify the aircraft or aircraft component for release to service after having performed engine compressor washes or having installed or removed seats.

Docket 98/EXE/45.—On 15 October 1997. To Great Barrier Airlines Limited. Exempt pilots employed, engaged, or otherwise contracted by Great Barrier Airlines Limited from the requirements of civil aviation rules:

(a) 43.51 (a) to allow those pilots to install and remove seats;

and

(b) 43.101 (a) to allow those pilots to certify the aircraft or aircraft component for release to service after having installed or removed seats.

The grant of, or denial of, exemptions is also published in the Civil Aviation Rules Register Information Leaflet (CARRIL), as a 6-weekly publication of the Civil Aviation Authority. Exemption docket files may be viewed on prior request to the Registrar at the office of the Civil Aviation Authority at 1 Market Grove (P.O. Box 31-441), Lower Hutt.

Land Transport Safety Authority

Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Act 1986

Approval of Hazardous Substances Courses

Pursuant to section 48 (2) (e) of the Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Act 1986, and under powers delegated to me by the Director of Land Transport Safety in an instrument of delegation, dated the 23rd day of December 1996, I, James William Furneaux, Regional Compliance Officer, hereby approve the hazardous substance courses to be run by the following organisation for the purposes of section 70H (1) (a) of the Transport Act 1962:

Porirua City Council.

Pursuant to section 48 (2) (f) of the Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Act 1986, and pursuant to a delegation given by the Director of Land Transport Safety in an instrument of delegation, dated the 23rd day of December 1996, I, Christopher Rutter, Regional Compliance Officer, hereby approve courses in map reading to be conducted by the following organisation for the purposes of regulation 11 (1) (c) of the Transport (Drivers Licensing) Regulations 1987:
