Rotoroa Lake
Takaka River downstream from its confluence with the Waingaro River
Taylor River downstream of the New Renwick road bridge
Tennyson Lake
Waimea and Wairoa Rivers downstream from the confluence with the Lee River
Wairau River (including the Diversion) downstream from the Wash bridge
Wangapeka River below the Dart River confluence
All other waters are artificial bait, artificial lure or artificial fly.
7. Use of Boats
No licence holder fish for sports fish from any boat in those parts of Lake Rototi and Lake Rotoroa within a radius of 100 m from the centre of the meeting lines of those rivers and streams listed:
Lake Rototi;
(a) Travers River;
(b) Coldwater Stream;
(c) Black Valley Stream;
(d) Buller River;
Lake Rotoroa;
(a) Sabine River;
(b) D’Urville River;
(c) Gowan River.
8. Daily Limit Bags
8.1 No licence holder shall on any day kill or have in possession more than four sports fish, of which not more than two may be salmon from the following waters (excluding tributaries):
Aoere River downstream of the Rockville Road bridge
Buller River downstream of Gowan bridge
Cobb Reservoir
Maruia River downstream of the Falls
Matakitaki River downstream of the State Highway Six Road bridge
Motueka River downstream of the State Highway Six Road bridge at Kohatu
Pelorus River downstream of its confluence with the Rai River
Rai River
Rototi Lake
Rotoroa Lake
Tennyson Lake
Waimea River
Wairau River downstream of the Wash Bridge
Wangapeka River downstream of its confluence with the Dart River.
8.2 No licence holder shall on any day kill or be in possession of more than two sports fish in the following waters, (including tributaries) where only one of these fish may exceed 500 mm in length:
Branch River
D’Urville River
Daniell’s Lake
Deepdale River
Glenroy River
Goulter River
Matakitaki River upstream of its confluence with the Glenroy River
Motueka River upstream of the State Highway Six Road Bridge
Motupiko River
Opouri River
Owen River
Pearse River
Pelorus River upstream of its confluence with the Rai River
Rahu River
Rainbow River
Riwaka River
Ronga River
Sabine River
Travers River
Warwick River
Whakapuaka River
Woolley River
8.3 In all other waters no licence holder shall on any day kill or have in possession more than two sports fish.
8.4 No licence holder shall on any day take or be in possession of more than two salmon.
9. Fish Length
There is no minimum length limit for trout or salmon taken in the Nelson/Marlborough Fish and Game Region.
NORTH CANTERBURY FISH AND GAME REGION

1. Interpretations
The North Canterbury Fish and Game Region is divided into two zones:
Eastern Zone: The area to the east of a line extending from the white posts on the Rakaia River (near the Coleridge Power Station), to the white post at Woodstock on the Waimakariri River, to the Oxford-Glentui Road Bridge on the Ashley River, to the junction of the Hurunui River with the South Branch, to the junction of the Waiau and Hope Rivers; and excluding Lake Rubicon.
Western Zone: The area to the west of the eastern zone plus Lake Rubicon.
Fly fishing in the North Canterbury region means to fish for sports fish with fly rod and fly reel and fly line and artificial fly but with no additional weight to facilitate casting.
