2. Authorised Tackle

No licence holder, when fishing for sportsfish, shall use:

2.1 Any lead or weight attached below or as to hang below any lure or bait.
2.2 Any bait or lure treated with any chemical preparation other than that used solely to give buoyancy to an artificial fly.
2.3 Any hook which has a gape greater than 14 mm between the point and the nearest part of the shank.
2.4 Any lure having more than one hook or having a multiple hook, or any fixed assembly of hooks.

3. Authorised Lures

Authorised lures are:

Artificial fly
Spinner
Natural fly (adult form only)
Natural spider (adult form only)
Natural insect (adult form only)

No licence holder shall fish any water into which any ground bait, berley or other fish attractant has been placed.

4. Fly Fishing Only Waters

Only artificial fly may be used in the following waters and their tributaries:

Cochranes Creek
Hautapu River
Mangaonuku Stream
Maharakeke Stream
Mangaone River
Maraetotara River
Makaretu River
Te Hoe River
Tukipo River

5. Bait Fishing

Bait fishing is allowed on the following waters:

Lake Te Pohue
Karamu Stream

6. Use of Boats

No licence holder shall use any mechanically propelled boat on Lake Tutira or Lake Opouahi.

7. Daily Bag Limits

The larger of the two lakes known as Twin Lakes, at Kuripapango

Ngaruroro River below the Whanawhana cable excluding tributaries

Kahutara River
Otaki River
Henley Lake (Masterton)
Pohangina River
Lake Wairarapa
Porirua Lakes
Makakahi River, downstream from the road bridge at Eketahuna
Manawatu River downstream from its confluence with the Mangatewainui Stream
Mangahao River downstream from Marima Reserve Bridge
Mangaone River (a tributary of the Tiraumea River)
Mangatainoka River downstream from the junction with the Makakahi River
Rangitikei River downstream from the Mangaohane Bridge
Ruamahanga River
Tauherenikau River
Tiraumea River
Upper Kourarau Dam (except all inflowing streams)
Waikanae River
Waingawa River
Waiohine River
Whitby Lakes

1.2

All other waters in the region are open for fishing from 1 October to 30 April in the year following.

2. Artificial Fly and Artificial Minnow Only Waters

2.1 No licence holder when fishing for sports fish shall use any lure or bait other than artificial fly in the following waters and all their tributaries:

Hautapu, above the road bridge numbered 741/10.96 on State Highway 1 by the Taihape Golf Club;
Kopuaranga
Makuri, above the township bridge;
Mangatainoka;
Wainuiomata, below main township bridge;
