Anglers trolling from boats must stay at least 50 metres from any angler fishing from the shore. -
Daily Bag Limit of Killed Sportsfish
5.1 No licence holder shall on any one day kill more than five (5) Sportsfish.
5.2 No licence holder shall continue to fish on any day on which he or she has already killed a limit bag. -

2.1 No licence holder shall take sports fish from the following waters:
All rivers, streams and their tributaries which flow into but not including Lake Arapuni, Lake Waipapa, Lake Karapiro and that part of the Waikato River downstream from the Maraetai Dam to above the Karapiro Dam.
2.2 The closed waters restrictions in Section 2.1 of this Schedule do not apply to the following waters:
Waipapa River and tributaries
Mangawhio Stream and tributaries
Waipa Stream and tributaries
Pokaiawhenu Stream and tributaries
Waikato River -
Authorised Tackle
No licence holder when fishing for sports fish in the Auckland/Waikato Fish & Game Region shall use:
3.1 More than two lures.
3.2 Any lure having more than one hook or having a multiple hook, or any fixed assembly of hooks.
3.3 Any hook which has a gape greater than 14 mm between the point and the nearest part of the shank.
3.4 Any lure treated with any medicinal or chemical preparation other than a flotation preparation used solely to give buoyancy to an artificial fly.
3.5 Any artificial fly which has lead or other weight incorporated unless the hook used does not exceed 14 mm in length (being the horizontal straight line distance from the rear of the eye, exclusive of the eye, to the rear of the bend) and the gape (being the distance from the point of the hook to the underside of the nearest part of the hook shank above the point) of the hook does not exceed 6 mm.
3.6 Any lead or weight (other than hooks as permitted elsewhere in this notice) attached below or as to hang below any lure or bait.
3.7 Such restrictions in Sections 3.1 to 3.6 should apply notwithstanding any other restrictions, limitation or indulgence or licence granted by this Schedule. -
Vessel Fishing Restrictions
4.1 No licence holder shall fish for sports fish from any vessel in that part of the Waikato River between the Arapuni Dam and the upper limits of Lake Karapiro (as shown by the white marker post, situated 200 metres below the Huihuitaha Stream mouth) unless that vessel is securely anchored at all material times.
