Conditions
(i) The items specified in Schedule 2 must be within the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications;
(ii) The items specified in Schedule 2 must be in sound condition and good working order and must not be modified in any way;
(iii) This exemption may be revoked at any time.
(iv) A copy of this notice must be carried in the vehicle at all times and be readily available for inspection.

Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977
Kaingaroa Rural Fire District Notice 1997
Pursuant to the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977, the National Rural Fire Authority hereby makes the following notice.
Notice
- (1) This notice shall be cited as the Kaingaroa Rural Fire District Notice 1997.
(2) The Kaingaroa Rural Fire District Notice 1991 and all its amendments (a) are hereby revoked.
(3) The Tauhara Rural Fire District Notice 1988 and all its amendments (b) are hereby revoked.
(4) The Waiariki Rural Fire District Notice 1991 and all its amendments (c) are hereby revoked.
(5) This notice shall come into force on the 1st day of October 1997 after its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.
- In this notice, unless the context otherwise requires, the
“Act” means the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977, the
“committee” means the Kaingaroa Rural Fire Committee,
the “district” means the Kaingaroa Rural Fire District, the
“notice” means the Kaingaroa Rural Fire District Notice 1997.
Constitution of the Rural Fire District
- (1) The areas set out in the Schedule to this notice are hereby constituted and declared to be the district.
(2) For the purpose of the Act the district shall be administered by the committee.
(3) The committee shall consist of 14 members as follows:
(a) Five persons appointed, in writing, by Fletcher Challenge Forests Limited, signed on behalf of that company by 1 director and the secretary thereof; and
(b) One person appointed, in writing, by Carter Holt Harvey Forests Limited, signed on behalf of that company by 1 director and the secretary thereof; and
(c) One person appointed, in writing, by The Rotorua District Council, signed on behalf of the council by the chief executive and the secretary thereof; and
(d) One person appointed, in writing, by the New Zealand Forest Owners Association Incorporated, signed on behalf of the association by the president and secretary thereof; and
(e) One person appointed, in writing, by the Director-General of the Department of Conservation; and
(f) One person appointed, in writing, by Tasman Forest Industries Limited; signed on behalf of that company by one director and the secretary thereof; and
(g) One person appointed, in writing, by the Secretary of the Ministry of Forestry; and
(h) One person appointed, in writing, by The Bay of Plenty Regional Council, signed on behalf of the council by the chief executive and secretary thereof; and
(i) One person appointed, in writing, by the chief executive of the New Zealand Fire Service; and
(j) One person appointed, in writing, by The Taupo District Council, signed on behalf of the council by the chief executive and the secretary thereof.
(4) The period between the 1st day of October in any 1 year and the 30th day of April in the following year (both days inclusive) is hereby declared to be a restricted fire season in the district.
(5) The area set out in the Schedule to the notice does not include any “fire district” as that term is defined in section 2 of the Fire Service Act 1975.
Schedule
South Auckland and Gisborne Land Districts – Gisborne, Opotiki, Western Bay of Plenty, Rotorua, Taupo, Whakatane, Kawerau and Gisborne Districts – Kaingaroa Rural Fire District
All those parcels containing 618 200 hectares, more or less, as shown on S.O. Plan 60692, lodged in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Auckland and S.O. Plan 8852, lodged in the office of the Chief Surveyor in Gisborne and as the same on those plans numbered NRFA 123 deposited in the National Office of the New Zealand Fire Service at Wellington.
