Appointment of The Auckland Regional Council to Control and Manage a Reserve
Pursuant to the Reserves Act 1977, and to a delegation from the Minister of Conservation, the Regional Conservator, Auckland Conservancy, Department of Conservation, hereby appoints The Auckland Regional Council to control and manage the reserve described in the Schedule hereto, as the Kiripaka Wildlife Scenic Reserve, subject to the provisions of the said Act, and subject to the following special conditions:
(i) The reserve will be administered under the Reserves Act 1977, with the power to declare the reserve a wildlife refuge, pursuant to section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953.
(ii) The primary management focus for the reserve will be threatened species management. The management of recreation in the reserve will be a secondary management focus, and will be co-ordinated with the management of recreation in the adjoining Hunua Ranges Regional Parkland.
(iii) Management of kokako present in the reserve will be co-ordinated with management of kokako in other lands in the Hunua Ranges administered by either Auckland Regional Council or the Department of Conservation; management of kokako will be in accordance with the national Kokako Recovery Plan.
(iv) Management directions for the reserve will focus on improving the numbers of kokako, and improving the habitat value of the reserve for kokako and by implication for any other threatened species present in the reserve.
(v) A management plan for the reserve will be prepared in consultation with Manukau City Council and the Department of Conservation within two (2) years of the date of this appointment to control and manage.
(vi) The Auckland Regional Council will prepare an annual report covering management of the reserve, and this report will be presented to the Department of Conservation and Manukau City Council by the 1st day of October each year.

523.1369 hectares, more or less, being Lot 1, D.P. 162670, situated in Blocks X and XIV, Wairoa Survey District. All certificate of title 98A/464. Subject to section 243 (c) of the Reserves Management Act 1991, and together with a right of way easement created by transfer C. 820093.2.

Declaration That Land is a Reserve
Pursuant to the Reserves Act 1977, and to a delegation from the Minister of Conservation, the Regional Conservator, Southland Conservancy, Department of Conservation, hereby notifies that the following resolution was passed by The Southland District Council on the 30th day of May 1996:
That in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by section 14 of the Reserves Act 1977, The Southland District Council hereby resolves that Section 9, Block 1, Town of Oban (all C.T. 5D/1149) held by the said council in fee simple is declared to be a local purpose (community centre) reserve within the meaning of the said Act.

Declaration that Land is a Reserve
Pursuant to the Reserves Act 1977, and to a delegation from the Minister of Conservation, the Regional Conservator for the Auckland Conservancy of the Department of Conservation, hereby notifies that the following resolution was passed by The Auckland Regional Council at its meeting held on the 29th day of May 1996:
“That in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 14 of the Reserves Act 1977, The Auckland Regional Council hereby resolves that, the pieces of land described in the Schedule hereto, shall be, and the same are declared to be a reserve for scenic purposes to be known as the ‘Whakanewha Regional Park’ within the meaning of section 19 of the said Act”.
