Take notice that New Zealand Underwriters Limited (in receivership), a duly incorporated insurance company having its registered office at Auckland, has received notice of a downgrade of its rating from A M Best Company to F

(in liquidation) effective as from the 10th day of July 1996.

This notice is given, pursuant to section 8 of the Insurance Companies (Ratings and Inspections) Act 1994.

Retention of the Title “The Honourable”

His Excellency the Governor-General has advised that Her Majesty the Queen has been graciously pleased to approve the retention of the title “The Honourable” by:

Member of the Executive Council of New Zealand 1993–1995; and

Colin Campbell Fraser
Laurence Murray Greig
Thomas Murray Thorp

on their retirement as permanent Judges of the High Court of New Zealand.

Defence Act 1990

Appointments, Promotions, Extensions, Transfers, Resignations and Retirements of Officers of the Royal New Zealand Navy

Pursuant to section 32 of the Defence Act 1990, His Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Naval Forces.

ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVY

The appointment of Commander D.D.J. Pomeroy is extended until 19 January 1999.

Acting Captain Roger Henry Keeling is placed on the Retired List of the RNZN in the rank of Captain, with effect from 21 May 1996.

Commander J.R. Meldrum, O.B.E., B.SC., to be acting Captain with effect from 15 May 1996, and Captain with seniority and effect from 20 May 1996.

The following Lieutenant Commanders are placed on the Retired List of the RNZN with effect from the date shown:

Lieutenant Commander Paul Nigel Asher-Relf, B.SC., is placed on the Emergency List of Officers of the Naval Reserve with effect from 29 June 1996.

The seniority of Lieutenant Commander S. McKie is antedated to 1 February 1995 with effect from 1 January 1996.

The seniority as Lieutenant of Lieutenant Commander D.A. Gibbs, B.E.(MECH.) is adjusted to 15 July 1987 with effect from 1 January 1996.

John David Alexander Toon, Royal Navy, is appointed to the RNZN in the rank of Lieutenant Commander, with seniority from 1 October 1990 and effect from 8 July 1996.
