Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978
Application for a Permit to Film Marine Mammals
Max Quinn of the National History Unit, TVNZ, 8 Dowling Street, Dunedin, has applied to the Minister of Conservation for a permit under section 6 of the Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978 to undertake the following activities to enable filming of southern right whales, Hookerβs sea lions and southern elephant seals on Campbell Island and the Auckland Islands during July and August 1996:
(a) Approach by boat to within 50 metres of right whales;
(b) Place divers in the water to approach within 50 metres of right whales;
(c) Approach to within 10 metres of Hookerβs sea lions and southern elephant seals on shore.
Anyone wishing to make submissions on this application may do so by making a written submission to the Minister of Conservation within 28 days after the publication of this notice, addressed to:

Application for a Permit to Film Marine Mammals
Peter Thompson, film camera operator of 108 Parkhill Road, Auckland has applied to the Minister of Conservation for a permit under section 6 of the Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978 to approach to within 50 metres of, and film, at the surface of underwater, cetaceans and other marine mammals in New Zealand Fisheries Waters, between 1 August 1996 and 30 July 2000.
Anyone wishing to make submissions on this application may do so by making a written submission to the Minister of Conservation within 28 days after the publication of this notice addressed to:

Under sections 146 and 155 of the Education Act 1989, the Minister of Education hereby gives the following notice:

This notice may be cited as Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Waipiro.

This notice shall come into force on 22 July 1996.
-
I hereby establish at Waipiro Bay a primary school called Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Waipiro, and designate the school as a kura kaupapa Maori.

Aims, purposes, and objectives of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Waipiro. Together with the use of te reo Maori as the principal language of instruction, the following aims, purposes, and objectives constitute the character of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Waipiro:
(i) To develop a high degree of self-esteem in every student.
(ii) To encourage a sense of pride in being Maori, self-respect, and self-confidence.
(iii) To allow each student to discover his/her own potential and to explore and extend their individual and group creativity.
(iv) To teach the positive aspects of sharing, support and participation.
(v) To reinforce the practical and spiritual value of Maori land and language.
(vi) To cultivate an awareness of the place of the individual in the universe and his/her relationship and responsibilities to all people and things in nature.
