Radiocommunications (Radio) Regulations 1993
Radiocommunications Prescribed Standards Notice 1996
For the purpose of regulation 2 of the Radiocommunications (Radio) Regulations 1993, and acting under delegated authority from the Secretary of Commerce, I hereby prescribe the following publications as standards within the meaning of the term “standards” in regulation 2 of the Radiocommunications (Radio) Regulations 1993:
(a) RFS 29, Issue 7, February 1996: Restricted Radiation Radio Apparatus;
(b) RFS 30, Issue 1, February 1996: Cordless Telephones.

Radiocommunications Interference Notice 1993, Amendment No. 3
Pursuant to regulation 41 of the Radiocommunications (Radio) Regulations 1993, the General Manager, Communications Division, Ministry of Commerce, acting under delegated authority from the Secretary of Commerce, hereby gives the following notice:
Notice
- Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Radiocommunications Interference Notice 1993, Amendment No. 3, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Radiocommunications Interference Notice 1993 (hereinafter referred to as the principal notice).
(2) This notice shall come into force on the day after its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.

Standards for industrial, scientific and medical radio frequency equipment—Clause 3 of the principal notice is hereby amended by omitting subclause (5) of this clause.

Standards for sound and television broadcast receivers and associated equipment—Clause 4 (3) (a) of the principal notice is hereby amended by adding after “1990” the expression “including Amendments 1, 2 and 3”.

Standards for appliances the main functions of which are performed by motors and switching or regulating devices, unless the radio-frequency energy is intentionally generated or intended for illumination—
(1) Clause 5 (3) (b) of the principal notice is hereby amended by omitting the expression “1992” and substituting the expression “1995”.
(2) Clause 5 (3) (c) of the principal notice is hereby amended by omitting the expression “1987” and substituting the expression “1993”.
- Standards for information technology equipment—
(1) Clause 8 (3) (b) of the principal notice is hereby amended by omitting the expression “1992” and substituting the expression “1995”.
(2) Clause 8 (3) (c) of the principal notice is hereby amended by omitting the expression “1987” and substituting the expression “1995”.

Standard for restricted radiation radio apparatus—Clause 19 (3) of the principal notice is hereby amended by omitting the expression “Issue 6, February 1994” and substituting the expression “Issue 7, February 1996”.

New clauses inserted—The principal notice is hereby amended by inserting, after clause 19, the following clause:
“19A. Standards for cordless telephones—(1)
Cordless telephones are hereby prescribed as a class of interfering equipment.
(2) The level of conformity applicable to the class of interfering equipment to which subclause (1) of this clause applies shall be level 1.
(3) The standard applicable to the class of interfering equipment to which subclause (1) of this clause applies shall be—
(a) specification RFS 30, Issue 1, February 1996:
(b) Australian Standard/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 4281, 1995.
(4) Interfering equipment falling within the classes referred to in subclause (1) of this clause shall comply with one of the standards specified in subclause (3) of this clause.”

Explanatory Note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This notice prescribes the standards applicable to classes of interfering equipment (as defined in section 2 (1) of the Radiocommunications Act 1989).

In accordance with regulation 5 (3) of the Telecommunications (International Services) Regulations 1994 (“the regulations”), I, Cristine Ann Stevenson, Senior Advisor, Communications Division, Ministry of Commerce, hereby give notice that, acting under delegated authority, I have registered the company named in the Schedule to this notice as a registered operator for the purposes of the regulations on the date shown in that Schedule.
