Permission to Conduct Within New Zealand a Lottery Conducted Outside New Zealand

Pursuant to section 69 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977, I, Warren Cooper, Minister of Internal Affairs, hereby permit Time Life Australia Pty Limited, to conduct within New Zealand, subject to the conditions specified in the Schedule to this notice, a lottery promoted outside New Zealand as a sales promotion scheme to promote its music purchasing club.

Conditions

The permission given by this notice is subject to the following conditions, namely:

(1) Time Life Australia Pty Limited will not conduct the lottery within New Zealand after 31 December 1996.

(2) The results of the lottery will be published in the Sunday Star Times on 26 January 1997.

(3) New Zealand winners shall not be subject to any disadvantage as a result of winning a prize. All freight, customs, handling and delivery charges and any insurance costs to cover theft or damage to prizes coming from outside New Zealand will be met by Time Life Australia Pty Limited.

(4) A New Zealand participant shall have a chance of winning which is equivalent to that of an overseas participant.

Pursuant to section 69 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977, I, Warren Cooper, Minister of Internal Affairs, hereby permit JLW TransAct Pty Limited, to conduct within New Zealand, subject to the conditions specified in the Schedule to this notice, a prize competition promoted outside New Zealand as a sales promotion scheme to promote the sales of hotels and motels.

(1) JLW TransAct Pty Limited will not conduct the prize competition within New Zealand after 5 November 1996.

(2) The results of the lottery will be published in the New Zealand Herald on 28 November 1996.

(3) New Zealand winners shall not be subject to any disadvantage as a result of winning a prize. All freight, customs, handling and delivery charges and any insurance costs to cover theft or damage to prizes coming from outside New Zealand will be met by JLW TransAct Pty Limited.

(4) A New Zealand participant shall have a chance of winning which is equivalent to that of an overseas participant.

Acting District Court Judge Appointed

Pursuant to section 10A of the District Courts Act 1947 and section 7 of the Family Courts Act 1980, Her Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint

Derek Lowe, retired District Court Judge

to be an Acting District Court Judge, to exercise civil and criminal jurisdiction, at such places or places and for such period or periods, only as the Chief District Court Judge may fix, pursuant to the said section 10A of the District Courts Act 1947, and also to exercise the jurisdiction of the Family Courts, pursuant to the said section 7 of the Family Courts Act 1980, for a term of 12 months on and from the 16th day of January 1996.

Notice of Intention to Apply for Ministerial Approval of a Code of Practice Under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992—Safety Code for Forest Operations Part 2 Cable Logging

Pursuant to section 20 of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, I, R. J. M. Hill, General Manager, Occupational Safety and Health Service of the Department of Labour, in exercise of those powers delegated to me by the Secretary of Labour, pursuant to section 41 of the State Sector Act 1988, hereby give notice of intention to apply to the Minister of Labour for his approval of a statement of preferred work practices or arrangements for health and safety in cable logging as an ‘‘Approved Code of Practice’’, under the Act.

These preferred work practices or arrangements are designed to describe the general operational safety provisions as to general safety rules including breaking out, working on skids and landings, care of wire rope and setting up and using haulers and winches.
