The Resource Management (Approval of Watercare Services Limited as Requiring Authority) Notice 1996
Pursuant to section 167 of the Resource Management Act 1991, the Minister for the Environment, hereby gives the following notice:
Notice
- Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Resource Management (Approval of Watercare Services Limited as Requiring Authority) Notice 1996.
(2) This notice shall come into force on the 7th day after the date of its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.
- Approval as requiring authority—Watercare Services Limited is hereby approved as a requiring authority under section 167 of the Resource Management Act 1991, for the construction and operation of a pipeline for the conveyance of water from the Waikato River, to the company’s existing Redoubt Road Water Reservoir at or about map reference NZMS 260 R11 825 651.

Officer of Government of Ross Dependency Appointed
CATHERINE A. TIZARD, Governor-General
WHEREAS, by an Order in Council dated the 30th day of July 1923*, made under the British Settlements Act 1887 of the United Kingdom Parliament, the Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief of New Zealand for the time being (hereinafter called the Governor) was appointed to be the Governor of the Ross Dependency, and all the powers and authorities which by the said order were given and granted to the Governor for the time being of the Dependency were thereby vested in the Governor:
And whereas the Governor was thereby further authorised and empowered to make all such rules and regulations as might lawfully be made by Her Majesty’s authority for the peace, order, and good government of the Dependency:
And whereas, by regulations made by the Governor on the 14th day of November 1923†, it was enacted that all persons appointed by the Governor for the time being of the Dependency should have such power and authority as might be granted them in due course of law, and might be empowered to do such things as might be necessary or expedient to ensure that the laws in force in the Dependency are duly observed and complied with in every respect, and to do all things necessary or expedient for the peace, order, and good government of the Dependency, and to safeguard and preserve Her Majesty’s rights and sovereignty over and in respect of the Dependency:
And whereas it is expedient that the person hereinafter named be appointed an officer of the Government of the Dependency:
Now, therefore, I, Dame Catherine Anne Tizard, the Governor-General of New Zealand, and as such the Governor of the Ross Dependency, hereby appoint
Ronald Frank Rogers
to be an officer of the Government of the Dependency while he acts as Senior New Zealand Representative at Scott Base during the period beginning with the 11th day of February 1996 and ending with the close of the 15th day of October 1996:
And I hereby confer on the said Ronald Frank Rogers while he holds office all the powers and authorities that may be exercised in New Zealand by a Justice of the Peace, and also the powers and authorities that may be so exercised by a Coroner:
The said Ronald Frank Rogers to exercise his functions at such places within the Dependency as may be directed by the officer for the time being appointed as an officer of the Government of the Dependency in whom is vested the general executive and administrative authority in preserving Her Majesty’s rights and sovereignty and the laws and regulations in force in the Dependency.
As witness the hand of Her Excellency the Governor-General as the Governor of the Ross Dependency, this 5th day of February 1996.

Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977
Permission to Conduct Within New Zealand a Lottery Conducted Outside New Zealand
Pursuant to section 69 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977, I, Warren Cooper, Minister of Internal Affairs, hereby permit The Jewellery Chain Pty Limited (trading as Kleins Jewellery), to conduct within New Zealand, subject to the conditions specified in the Schedule to this notice, a lottery promoted outside New Zealand as a sales promotion scheme to promote the range of Kleins fashion jewellery and accessories.

The permission given by this notice is subject to the following conditions, namely:
(1) The Jewellery Chain Pty Limited will not conduct the lottery within New Zealand after 19 March 1997.
(2) The results of the lottery will be published in the Sunday Star Times on 4 August 1996, 3 November 1996, 2 February 1997 and 13 April 1997.
(3) New Zealand winners shall not be subject to any disadvantage as a result of winning a prize. All freight, customs, handling and delivery charges and any insurance costs to cover theft or damage to prizes
