Radiocommunications (Radio) Regulations (General Licence for Cordless Telephone Radio Apparatus) Notice 1995

Pursuant to regulation 13 of the Radiocommunications (Radio) Regulations 1993, and acting under delegated authority from the Secretary of Commerce, I hereby give the following notice:

Notice

  1. Short title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Radiocommunications (Radio) Regulations (General Licence for Cordless Telephone Radio Apparatus) Notice 1995.

    (2) This notice shall come into force on the 1st day of March 1996.

  2. General licence—(1) A licence under regulation 13 of the Radiocommunications (Radio) Regulations 1993 is hereby granted for the installation, operation, and use by persons in New Zealand of radio apparatus intended for the transmission and reception of radio communications within New Zealand for the purpose known as Cordless Telephone communications.

    (2) CT1 and CT2 Cordless Telephone radio apparatus is intended for short range communication and usually consists of a base unit, providing interconnection between telephone networks and portable units.

  3. Terms, conditions and restrictions—(1) The frequencies available for use under this licence shall be those specified in the First Schedule (CT1) and the Second Schedule (CT2) to this notice.

    (2) The technical conditions applying under this licence shall be those specified in the First Schedule (CT1) and Second Schedule (CT2) to this notice.

    (3) This licence applies only to apparatus which complies with technical specification RFS 30 (Issue 1, February 1996 (and subsequent amendments)) and in respect of which a declaration of conformity has been submitted to the Secretary under regulation 43 of the Radiocommunications (Radio) Regulations 1993.

    (4) Frequency use is on a shared basis and the Secretary does not accept any liability under any circumstances for any loss or damage of any kind occasioned by the unavailability of frequencies or interference to reception.

    (5) Frequency use is also on a non-interference basis to all other licenced services. Should interference occur the Secretary reserves the right to require that any apparatus licenced under regulation 13 of the Radiocommunications (Radio) Regulations 1993 change frequency or cease operation.

  4. Period of validity of licence—This licence shall expire on 31 January 1999.
