(a) A keep net of not less than 1.8 metres shall be permitted;
(b) Have in their possession more than two assembled rods of any length of which only one rod to be used at any time;
(c) There shall be no restriction in lures and baits;
(d) There shall be no restriction on the proximity of the weight to the hook, with weights allowed below the hooks.

Prohibition on unauthorised fishing tackle—Subject to subclause 5 (2) of the Notice no licence holder shall, when fishing for sports fish, use or be in possession of, or be in control of, or convey or cause to be conveyed to the vicinity of any place where that licence holder is fishing or proposes to fish, any paravane, any stroke-hauling or foulhooking gear, or any spear.

Use of nets—Subject to clause 5 (2) of this Notice, no licence holder shall use or cause to be used for taking sports fish a net of any description:
Provided that it shall be a defence for any licence holder charged with a breach of this clause if that licence holder proves that he or she was netting for indigenous fish in accordance with the provisions of any regulations or notices in force in that behalf.
- Prohibition on possession or control of spear gun—(1) No licence holder shall, when taking or attempting to take or when in possession of, any sports fish, be in possession of or be in control of, any spear gun or any pointed missile (other than a bullet) which is propelled by means of any mechanical or explosive device.
(2) Where any licence holder is charged with an offence under subclause (1) of this clause, it shall be a defence to the charge if the defendant proves that the spear gun or pointed missile in the defendant’s possession or under the defendant’s control was not used in the taking of the sports fish.
(3) In this clause the term “explosive” has the same meaning as in the Explosives Act 1957.

Authorised lures and baits—Not withstanding clause 5 (9) no licence holder shall fish for sports fish with any bait or lure other than artificial or natural fly, insect, worm, crustacea, minnow, fish (excluding fish ova or any portion of a fish or any shellfish (mollusca)).

Daily limit bag—(1) No licence holder shall on any one day take, kill or have in possession more than 6 sports fish.
(2) Notwithstanding subclause (1) of this clause, no licence holder shall on any one day take or have in his/her possession more than:
(a) 6 sports fish taken from Lake Coleridge & Lake Sumner of which no more than 4 shall be trout:
(b) 2 trout from any other “high country” water, and in the rivers and their tributaries upstream of the line as listed in Clause 2 (2) (a), (b), (c) and (d).
(c) 4 trout taken from any other water.
(d) 1 splake from Lake Letitia.
(e) 2 quinnat salmon taken and killed from any other waters.
(3) No licence holder shall continue to fish for a particular species of sports fish on any day on which he/she has already taken and killed the limit bag for that species.
(4) It shall be permissible to make up the difference between a lesser limit bag prescribed in one place and a higher limit bag prescribed in another place.
(5) Notwithstanding subclauses (1), (2) and (4) of this clause, no licence holder shall on any one day take and kill or have sports fish in their possession, from:
(a) Lake Marymere & the Ashley River above the Oxford-Glentui Gorge Bridge and the Kaipoai Lakes. All sportsfish caught in these waters must be immediately released with as little injury as possible back into the waters from which they were taken.
- Minimum size to be taken—(1) No licence holder shall take or have in his/her possession any trout or salmon which does not exceed 25 cm in length.
(2) Every licence holder taking a trout or salmon which does not exceed the specified length or who wishes to release the fish for whatever reason, shall immediately return it with as little injury as possible into the water from which it was taken.
- Revocation—The notice published in the supplement to the Gazette, 1994 No.89 page 2697 titled District Anglers (North Canterbury Fish and Game Region) Notice 1994 is hereby revoked.

DISTRICT ANGLER (CENTRAL SOUTH ISLAND FISH AND GAME REGION) NOTICE 1995
Pursuant to section 26R (3) of the Conservation Act 1987 the Central South Island Fish and Game Council hereby gives the following District Anglers Notice.
Notice
- Title and commencement—(1) This Notice may be cited as the District Anglers (Central South Island Fish and Game Region) Notice 1995.
(2) and shall come into force on the 1st day of October 1995.
- Interpretation—(1) Words and expressions in this notice which are defined in the Conservation Law Reform Act 1990, or the Freshwater Fisheries Regulations 1983, shall have the meaning so defined.
Particular note should be taken of the following definitions which are substantially extracted from the Act;
“Fishing”—
(a) Means the catching, taking, or harvesting of freshwater fish; and
(b) Includes—
(i) Any other activity that may reasonably be expected to result in the catching, taking, or harvesting of freshwater fish:
(ii) Any attempt to catch, take, or harvest freshwater fish:
(iii) Any activity in support of, or in preparation for, any activity described in this definition.
“Taking” in relation to any fish means fishing and “takes” and “to take” have a corresponding meaning.
(2) In this notice—
(a) “Foulhook” in relation to sports fish means to take the sports fish with a hook otherwise than from within the mouth.
(b) “Total Weight” in relation to any rod fishing shall include the weight of anything attached to the line.
(c) “Artificial fly fishing” means to fish for sportsfish using any lure of feather, fur, wool or other material of any kind customarily used in the making of artificial flies; but shall not include any lure in the tying of which lead or other weight has been incorporated unless the hook incorporated in that lure does not exceed 14 mm in length (exclusive of
