Together with the use of te reo Maori as the principal language of instruction, the following aims, purposes, and objectives constitute the character of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Te Ara Whanui:
(i) To provide a place where children are taught in the Maori language by people who can incorporate tikanga Maori in all aspects of education.
(ii) To enable children to achieve academic excellence.
(iii) To promote tino rangatiratanga.
(iv) To encourage whanau support.
(v) To practice traditional and contemporary concepts of learning.
(vi) To encompass dimensions of learning that include spirituality, individual and group well-being, and creativity.
(vii) To encourage and motivate children to accept the challenges of respect, co-operation, and responsibility.
- Constitution of the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Te Ara Whanui shall comprise:
(a) Five people appointed by the Minister.
(b) The principal, or principal designate.
(c) Not more than four persons co-opted by the Board.

Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Te Raki Paewhenua
Pursuant to sections 146 and 155 of the Education Act 1989, the Minister of Education hereby gives the following notice:

This notice may be cited as Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Te Raki Paewhenua.

This notice shall come into force on 1 January 1996.
-
I hereby establish on the North Shore a primary school called Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Te Raki Paewhenua, and designate the school as a kura kaupapa Maori.

Aims, purposes, and objectives of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Te Raki Paewhenua.
Together with the use of te reo Maori as the principal language of instruction, the following aims, purposes, and objectives constitute the character of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Te Raki Paewhenua:
(i) To secure and nurture te tino rangatiratanga designing rights and uniqueness of each child.
(ii) To nurture and excel the learning needs of kura kaupapa Maori children so they become valued taonga of their iwi, hapu, and whanau.
(iii) To produce bilingual and bicultural citizens of Aotearoa.
(iv) To provide an educational environment which encourages outcomes of excellence in all areas of child development.
(v) To embrace Te Aho Matua as the guiding principle of kura kaupapa Maori.
(vi) To adhere to the National Education Guidelines.
- Constitution of the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Te Raki Paewhenua shall comprise:
(a) Five people appointed by the Minister.
(b) The principal, or principal designate.
(c) Not more than four persons co-opted by the Board.

Education (Early Childhood Centres) Regulations 1990
Cancellation of Licence for an Early Childhood Centre
Pursuant to regulation 14 of the Education (Early Childhood Centres) Regulations 1990 and acting under authority delegated by the Secretary for Education, I hereby cancel the licence dated 13 April 1995 which was granted under those regulations to Robert Shannon in respect of Early Years Learning Centre, situated at Level Three, 88–122 Willis Street, Wellington.
Early Years Learning Centre is re-established as a licensed childcare centre, as of 3 July 1995 at premises sited at 133–139 Tory Street, Wellington.
This notice shall take effect the day after the date of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975
Supplementary Integration Agreement
Pursuant to section 10 of the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975, notice is given that a supplementary integration agreement has been signed between the Minister of Education on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen acting through the Senior Manager, National Operations, Ministry of Education, pursuant to delegated authority, and the proprietor of the following school:
St Joseph’s School, Eltham.
The said supplementary agreement was executed on the 5th day of July 1995. A copy of the supplementary agreement is available for inspection without charge by any member of the public at the district office of the Ministry of Education, 116 Victoria Avenue, Wanganui.
