Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992

Notice of Intention to Apply for Ministerial Approval of a Code of Practice Under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992—Visual Display Units

Pursuant to section 20 of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, I, Robert J. Hill, General Manager, Occupational Safety and Health Service of the Department of Labour, in exercise of those powers delegated to me by the Secretary of Labour, pursuant to section 41 of the State Sector Act 1988, hereby give notice of my intention to apply to the Minister of Labour for his approval of a statement of preferred work practices and arrangements for health and safety in the use of visual display units, as an “Approved Code of Practice”, under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.

These preferred work practices and arrangements describe health and safety measures that should be taken to ensure the health and safety of people using visual display units in the place of work, including:

(i) The organisation of work with visual display units.

(ii) The design of computer equipment, office furniture and the office environment.

(iii) Education and training for people who use visual display units.

(iv) Monitoring the exposure to hazards of visual display unit work and the health of people who work with visual display units.

International Air Services Licensing Act 1947

Notice of Application to Amend an International Air Service Licence

Pursuant to the International Air Services Licensing Act 1947, the State Sector Act 1988, a delegation from the Minister of Transport, and a subdelegation from the Secretary for Transport:

I, John Gibson Bradbury, General Manager Air Services, hereby give notice that an application has been made, in terms of sections 14 and 14A of the International Air Services Licensing Act 1947, for the amendment to the International Air Service Licence issued to Royal Tongan Airlines Limited to enable the airline to operate beyond Auckland to Sydney with a once weekly return B737 service.

Further details of this proposal are available from me at the Ministry of Transport, P.O. Box 3175, Wellington.

Any person wishing to make representations relating to this application must forward the representations to reach me on or before 6 April 1995.

Traffic Regulations 1976

Approval of the Fitting and Use of Cornering Lamps on Motor Vehicles

Pursuant to regulation 88 (1) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, I, Michael Joseph Small, Senior Vehicle Compliance Officer, hereby approve for the purposes of regulation 65 the fitting and use of auxiliary lamps of the type specified in Schedule 1 of this notice, subject to the conditions specified in Schedule 2 of this notice.

Schedule 1

Cornering lamps in the form of steady burning lamps used in conjunction with the direction indicator lamp system to supplement the head lamps by providing illumination in the direction of the turn.

Schedule 2

Conditions

A motor vehicle, other than a motorcycle or trailer, may be fitted with 2 cornering lamps fitted at the front corners of the vehicle that the lamps:

(i) Are mounted at a height not greater than that of the head lamps;

(ii) Operate only whilst the head lamps and/or park lamps are in use;

(iii) Operate only in conjunction with the respective direction indicator lamps;

(iv) Emit only white or amber light;

(v) Are set in a permanently dipped position;

(vi) Are not visible from the rear;

(vii) Do not flash; and

(viii) Comply to Article 33–2, SAE J852 and ADR 45/00.

Withdrawal of Approval

I, hereby withdrawal the approval published in the New Zealand Gazette on the 9 August 1990, No. 139, page 2840, “Approval of the Fitting and Use of Cornering Lamps on Motor vehicles”.
