Additional Judge of the Court of Appeal Appointed

Pursuant to section 58 (9) of the Judicature Act 1908, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council and with the concurrence of the Chief Justice and the President of the Court of Appeal, has been pleased to appoint

The Right Honourable Sir Gordon Ellis Bisson, a former member of the Court of Appeal

to act as an additional Judge of the Court of Appeal for a period of 2 months commencing on 7 February 1995.

Education Act 1989

Amendments of the Constitution of the Council of the Wanganui Regional Community Polytechnic

Pursuant to section 170 of the Education Act 1989, the Minister of Education hereby gives the following notice:

Notice
The Council of the Wanganui Regional Community Polytechnic shall be constituted as follows:

(a) Four members appointed by the Minister of Education.

(b) The Chief Executive of Wanganui Regional Community Polytechnic.

(c) One permanent member of the academic staff of Wanganui Regional Community Polytechnic elected by the permanent members of that staff.

(d) One permanent member of the general staff of Wanganui Regional Community Polytechnic elected by the permanent members of that staff.

(e) Two members who are or have been students of Wanganui Regional Community Polytechnic appointed by the Wanganui Regional Community Polytechnic Students’ Association (Inc).

(f) One member representing employee organisations appointed by the Manawatu–Wanganui District Combined Trade Unions.

(g) One member of the Wanganui District appointed by the Wanganui District Council.

(h) Two members of the tangata whenua appointed by the Whanganui River Maori Trust Board.

(i) One member representing women in the region appointed by the Wanganui Branch of the National Council of Women of New Zealand (Inc).

(j) One member appointed by the Boards of Trustees of the following schools—
Ruapehu College
Wanganui High School
Wanganui Girls’ College
Waverley High School
Patea High School
St Augustine’s College
Wanganui Collegiate School
Nga Tawa School
Rangitikei College
Sacred Heart College
Turakina Maori Girls’ College
Taihape College.

(k) One member representing rural and community education interests appointed by the following organisations—
Wanganui Branch Federated Farmers (Inc)
Wanganui and District Community Arts Council
Wanganui Community Education Service (Inc)
Taihape/Ruapehu REAP
Such other organisations as the Council may determine from time to time.

2 Subject to section 171 (1) of the Education Act 1989, the constitution of the Council may include members by co-option.

3 Subject to section 173 of the Education Act 1989, the maximum term for any member, other than the Chief Executive Officer, shall be 3 consecutive terms, each of 4 years (and for the avoidance of doubt, any period as a member undertaken before the date of this notice, shall be counted towards the maximum term).

4 This notice shall come into force on 31 March 1995.

5 The notice, determining the constitution of the Council of the Wanganui Regional Community Polytechnic, as published in the Gazette dated 27 September 1990, No. 169, page 3562, is hereby revoked.

Education (Early Childhood Centres) Regulations 1990

Cancellation of Licence for an Early Childhood Centre

Pursuant to regulation 14 of the Education (Early Childhood Centres) Regulations 1990 and acting under authority delegated by the Secretary for Education, I hereby cancel the licence dated 2 September 1994, which was granted under those regulations to Betsey Ann Burns, in respect of Rainbow Cottage, situated at 47 Lord Cobham Drive, Whakatane.

The centre has ceased to operate at these premises.

This notice shall take effect the day after the date of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.
