- Baits and lures—(1) No licence holder shall take sports fish unless he or she uses authorised baits and lures.
(2) Authorised baits and lures are:
(a) Natural and artificial: fly, insect, worm, and crustacea (excluding Koura);
(b) Artificial minnow;
(c) Fish, but not any portion of fish, ova, or shellfish, providing that shellfish may be used in any artificial minnow.
(3) Only artificial fly shall be used at Lake Mangamahoe (including the Waiwakihiko inlet) and Raetihi Hydro Dam.
(4) Only artificial fly and artificial minnow shall be used in fisheries experimental waters outlined in clause 7 (1) (b).
(5) There shall be no restriction on the bait used by licence holders fishing for perch in any pond or dam on privately owned land.

Minimum size to be taken—(1) No licence holder shall take, kill, or have in his or her possession any trout or salmon of a length measured from the tip of the nose to the notch of the tail which is:
(a) Less than 33 cm, in all waters west of a line from Waverley to Makahu to Onaero, and east of a line from the Whanganui and Ohura River confluence, to the Retaruke River confluence, to Kakatahi and through Colliers Junction to the boundary.
(b) Less than 20 cm in all other waters.
(2) Every licence holder taking a sports fish which does not exceed the specified minimum length shall return it to the water immediately with the least possible injury.

Daily limit bag—(1) No licence holder shall on any one day have in his or her possession:
(a) More than two (2) sports fish taken and killed from waters being Lakes Virginia, Pauri, Wiritoa, Namunamu and Raetihi Hydro Dam and Dobbs Dam; and all waters west of a line from Waverley, to Makahu, to Onaero, but excluding the Waingongoro River downstream of Eltham Road.
(b) Any sports fish taken from a fisheries experimental water being:
(i) Mangaoraka Stream from the bridge at Te Arei Road West upstream to the bridge at Corbett Road; (ii) Kaiauai Stream upstream of the bridge at Alfred Road; (iii) Stony River from the bridge at State Highway 45 upstream to the bridge at Mangatete Road;In these waters sports fish shall be immediately released back into the water from which they were taken with as little injury as possible.
(c) More than four (4) sports fish in all other waters.
(2) Where a licence holder has taken or killed the prescribed limit of sports fish in one day he or she shall forthwith cease fishing for the remainder of that day.
(3) There shall be no limit on the number of perch taken or killed by a licence holder.

Virginia Lake (Wanganui)—Despite other rules in this notice, special rules apply to the waters of Virginia Lake. The rules are:
(a) Only junior licence holders may take fish;
(b) Only two (2) trout per day may be taken.
(c) No fly casting;
(d) No fishing from the paved area in front (western end) of the lake.

Revocation—The notice published in the supplement to the Gazette, No. 129 of 29 August 1991, on page 2787 titled District Anglers (Taranaki Fish and Game Region) Notice 1991, and Amendments No. 1 and No. 2 are hereby revoked.

District Anglers (Wellington Fish and Game Region) Notice 1990, Amendment No.3
Pursuant to section 26R (3) of the Conservation Act 1987, the Wellington Fish and Game Council amends the District Anglers (Wellington Fish and Game Region) Notice 1990, supplement to the New Zealand Gazette, 1990, No. 151, page 3210–3211.
- Title and commencement—(1) This amending notice may be cited as the District Anglers (Wellington Fish and Game Region) Notice 1990, Amendment No. 3, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the District Anglers Notice 1990 (hereinafter referred to as the “principal notice”).
(2) This amending notice shall come into force on the 1st day of October 1994.

Daily limit bag—(1) Clause 9 (1) (a) of the principal notice is amended by;
(a) Adding immediately after the words “(all tributaries included):” the phrase ‘Hokowhitu Lagoon’.
(b) Deleting and replacing the word “rivers” with the word ‘waters’.

District Anglers (Nelson/Marlborough Fish and Game Region) Notice 1994
Pursuant to section 26R (3) of the Conservation Act 1987 the Nelson/Marlborough Fish and Game Council hereby gives the following District Anglers Notice.
Notice

Title and commencement—This notice may be cited as the District Anglers (Nelson/Marlborough Fish and Game Region) Notice 1994 and shall come into force on the 1st day of October 1994.

Interpretation—Words and expressions in this notice which are defined in the Conservation Act 1987, or the Freshwater Fisheries Regulations 1983, shall have the meaning so defined.

Open season—(1) Subject to subclause (2) of this clause and to clause 4 of this notice, there shall be an open season for fishing for sports fish from the 1st day of October in any year to the 30th day of April in the following year (both days inclusive).
(2) There shall be an open season for fishing for sports fish from the 1st day of October in any year to the 30th day of September in the following year (both days inclusive) in the following waters (not including tributaries);
(a) Aorere River downstream from the road bridge at Rockville;
(b) Awatere River;
(c) Buller River downstream from the confluence with the Mangles River;
(d) Clarence River downstream from Glen Alton bridge;
(e) Cobb Reservoir;
(f) Conway River;
(g) Lake Argyle and the Branch Power canal below the
