shall be those specified in the Second Schedule to this notice.

(3) This licence applies only to apparatus which complies with technical specification RFS 39 (Issue 1, May 1994) and in respect of which a declaration of conformity has been submitted to the Secretary under regulation 43 of the Radiocommunications (Radio) Regulations 1993.

(4) This licence does not apply to apparatus which may be installed, operated or used in an automatic re-transmission, that is ‘repeater’, mode.

(5) Operators of radio apparatus pursuant to this licence shall during transmissions, clearly identify themselves.

(6) Apparatus used in the Personal Radio Service may only be used to communicate with other apparatus in that service using voice (speech) only communications or tones for the purpose of selective calling.

(7) Tones must only be used for the selective calling of other Personal Radio Service apparatus.

(8) In areas where Personal Radio Service repeater stations are in use, the repeater input channel frequencies must not be used except for the purpose of operating through the repeater.

(9) Connection of Personal Radio Apparatus to the Public Switched Telephone Network (‘autopatching’) is not permitted.

4. Period of validity of licence

This licence shall expire on 31 January 1999.

Technical Conditions

Designation of Emissions:

16K0F3EJN or 16K0G3EJN for voice telephony,
16K0F2EJN or 16K0G2EJN for selective calling.

Where the type of information to be transmitted is other than speech telephony the duration of any such transmission shall not exceed 3 seconds in any 60 second interval.

Maximum Power: 5 watts carrier power (pZ), with a maximum of 21 watts E.I.R.P.

Explanatory Note

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This notice prescribes that, pursuant to regulation 13 of the Radiocommunications (Radio) Regulations 1993, a general licence is granted in respect of the installation, operation, and use of radio apparatus on frequencies specified in this notice. The licence applies only to apparatus which complies with technical specification RFS39 (Issue 1, May 1994) and in respect of which a declaration of conformity has been submitted to the Secretary under regulation 43 of the Radiocommunications (Radio) Regulations 1993. This notice comes into effect on 1 July 1994. This notice does not apply to apparatus which can be used as re transmission or repeater apparatus.

Appointment of Member to Lake Okataina Scenic Reserves Board

Pursuant to sections 18, 19 and 20 of the Maori Purposes Act 1931 and sections 30 and 31 of the Reserves Act 1977, the Minister of Conservation hereby appoints

Hirini John Teua

to be a member of the Lake Okataina Scenic Reserves Board for the balance of the board’s 7 year term (expiring 19 September 1997).
