(6) Clause 21 (1) of the Schedule to the principal notice is hereby amended by inserting, after the word “every” in line 2, the word ‘new’.
(7) Subclauses (3) and (4) of clause 4 of the Schedule to the principal notice is hereby amended by inserting, after the words “in any” in line 1, the word “new”.
(8) The Schedule to the principal notice is hereby amended by inserting, after clause 13, the following clause:
“13A. Existing Ships—(1) Every existing ship of Classes VII, VIIA, and VIII with a gross tonnage of 500 or more, the keel of which was laid before 25 May 1980 shall comply with the requirements of the International Conference on Safety of Life at Sea 1960, Chapter II - Part E, Regulations 55 to 58 inclusive and Regulations 60 to 63 inclusive and Regulation 65.
(2) Every existing ship of Classes VII, VIIA, and VIII with a gross tonnage of 500 or more, the keel of which was laid on or after 25 May 1980 but before 1 September 1984, shall comply with the requirements of the International Conference on Safety of Life at Sea 1974, Chapter II-2, Part D, Regulation 52 (if a cargo ship) or Chapter II-2, Part E, Regulations 55 and 60 as amended by the 1978 Protocol, and Regulations 63 and 64 (if a tanker).”

The Fire Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Class IX) Notice 1989, Amendment No. 2
Pursuant to section 235 of the Shipping and Seamen Act 1952, the Minister of Transport hereby gives the following notice.
Notice
- Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Fire Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Class IX) Notice 1989, Amendment No. 2 and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Fire Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Class IX) Notice 1989 (hereinafter referred to as the principal notice).
(2) This notice shall come into force on the 30th day of May 1994.

Title of Code of Practice amended—The title of the principal notice is hereby amended by inserting, after the words “Practice for Ships”, the word “of”.

Interpretation—Clause 1 of the Schedule to the principal notice is hereby amended by deleting, from the definition of “New ship”, the words “A cargo ship, whenever built, which is converted to a passenger ship shall be treated as a passenger ship constructed on the date on which a conversion commences.”

Title of Part I of the Schedule amended—The title of Part I of the Schedule is hereby amended by inserting, after the words “Length or Over”, the words “and with a Gross Tonnage of 500 or over”.

The Fire Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Class X) Notice 1989, Amendment No. 2
Pursuant to section 235 of the Shipping and Seamen Act 1952, the Minister of Transport hereby gives the following notice.

- Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Fire Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Class X) Notice 1989, Amendment No. 2 and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Fire Appliances (Code of Practice for Ships of Class X) Notice 1989 (hereinafter referred to as the principal notice).
(2) This notice shall come into force on the 30th day of May 1994.

Interpretation—Clause 1 of the Schedule to the principal notice is hereby amended by deleting, from the definition of “New ship”, the words “A cargo ship, whenever built, which is converted to a passenger ship shall be treated as a passenger ship constructed on the date on which a conversion commences.”

Application—Clause 21 of the Schedule to the principal notice is hereby amended by deleting the words “applied for” in line 1 and substituting the words “applies to”.

Changes to Maritime Radio Frequencies—From the Maritime Safety Authority
This notice advises mariners of the frequencies in use by the public Maritime Radio Service, and those additional frequencies and services that will be introduced from 1 July 1994.
The HF Service
Frequencies presently in use by Taupo Maritime Radio ZLM are (in kHz):

And, in addition, the following additional frequencies from 1 July 1994:

(Note 1) 4146 kHz is used for broadcasts or general working. 4417 kHz is for working if another frequency cannot be used. The continued use of 4417 kHz after 1 July 1994, is subject to frequency approval.
The VHF Service
Channels are as follows:
