Notice of Indemnity Given, Pursuant to Section 59 (1) of the Public Finance Act 1989—From Rembrandt to Renoir Exhibition—Auckland City Council

Pursuant to section 59 (2) of the Public Finance Act 1989, the Minister of Finance makes the following statement:

In or about June 1993, the Minister of Finance gave an indemnity for $200 million, pursuant to section 59 (1) of the Public Finance Act 1989, to The Auckland City Council in respect of the exhibition From Rembrandt to Renoir, which was shown at the Auckland City Art Gallery from 5 June to 29 August 1993.

International Air Services Licensing Act 1947

Notice of Application for an International Air Service Licence

Pursuant to section 7 of the International Air Services Licensing Act 1947, notice is hereby given that American International Airways, Inc., of Michigan, U.S.A., has applied for an international air service licence to permit the company to operate a scheduled air service for the carriage of cargo and mail between New Zealand and the United States of America, Australia and points in Asia. Further details of this proposal may be obtained from the Acting Secretary for Transport, Ministry of Transport, P.O. Box 3175, Wellington.

Any person or organisation wishing to make representations relating to this application must forward those representations in writing to reach me on or before 26 May 1994.

Traffic Regulations 1976

Approval of Alternating Flashing Headlamps

Pursuant to regulation 88 of the Traffic Regulations 1976, approval is hereby granted, for the purpose of regulation 67 (8), to the fitting and use of an Alternating Flashing Headlamp device, in vehicles as described in the Schedule, provided those vehicles comply with the conditions set out below.

Schedule
Vehicles complying with the requirements of the Load Pilot Drivers Manual Edition No. 1, 1994, and any subsequent editions, and operated by A Grade Certified Load Pilots for the purpose of escorting overdimension loads.

Conditions

  1. This device shall only be used in accordance with the procedures set out in the Load Pilot Drivers Manual Edition No. 1, June 1994, when escorting loads issued with an overdimension permit in accordance with regulation 49 of the Traffic Regulations 1976.

  2. This device shall be connected into the dipped beam headlamps as defined in regulation 58 (3) of the Traffic Regulations 1976.

  3. This device shall incorporate an internal light visible to the driver when the lights are flashing.

  4. When this device is in operation, the headlamps shall alternately flash at a rate of not less than 60 or more than 120 flashes per minute.

  5. This device is approved for A Grade certified pilot vehicles only, and shall be removed from the vehicle when the vehicle is withdrawn from the service of piloting overdimension loads.

The notice “Approval of Alternating Flashing Headlamps” for certified Overdimension Load Pilot Vehicles issued pursuant to regulation 88 of the Traffic Regulations 1976 dated the 23rd day of December 1993, is hereby revoked.

Approval of Revolving Purple and Amber Lights for Certain Vehicles

Pursuant to regulation 88 of the Traffic Regulations 1976, approval is hereby granted, for the purposes of regulation 67 (8) of the said regulations, to the fitting and use of two revolving purple lights in combination with two revolving amber lights on vehicles as described in the Schedule, provided those vehicles comply with the conditions set out below.

Schedule
Vehicles complying with the requirements of the Load Pilot Drivers Manual, Edition No. 1, 1994, and any subsequent editions and operated by A Grade Certified Load Pilots for the purpose of escorting overdimension loads.

Conditions

  1. These lights shall only be used when escorting loads issued with an overdimension permit in accordance with regulation 49 of the Traffic Regulations 1976.

  2. These lights shall comply with the specifications and conditions of use as set out in the Load Pilot Drivers Manual, Edition No. 1, June 1994 and any subsequent editions.

  3. These lights are approved for A Grade Certified Pilot Vehicles only and shall be removed from the vehicle when the vehicle is withdrawn from the service of piloting overdimension loads.

The notice “Approval of Flashing/Revolving Purple and Amber Lights for Certain Vehicles” for certified Overdimension Load Pilot Vehicles issued pursuant to regulation 88 of the Traffic Regulations 1976 dated the 23rd day of February 1994, is hereby revoked.
