Burial and Cremation Act 1964

Tahora, Whangamomona and Midhurst Cemeteries—Closure and Clearance Notice 1994

Pursuant to section 45 of the Burial and Cremation Act 1964, the following notice is given:

Notice

I, Bill English, Parliamentary Under-Secretary to the Minister of Health, being satisfied that burials in the Tahora, Whangamomona and Midhurst Cemeteries, as described in the Schedule to this notice, should be wholly discontinued, except for one more burial in the Whangamomona Cemetery, and that The Stratford District Council has met its obligations in respect of section 45 (2) of the Burial and Cremation Act 1964, hereby:

(1) direct that the cemeteries, as described in the Schedule hereto, shall be closed and that no further burials shall take place, and

(2) authorise The Stratford District Council to clear the three cemeteries.

Schedule

Tahora Cemetery

All that area in the Taranaki Land District containing 1.214 hectares, 139.11 square metres, more or less, being Section 64, Tahora Suburban, situated in Block VI, Pouata Survey District.

Whangamomona Cemetery

All that area of land containing 8321 square metres, more or less, being Section 24, Block I, Mahoe Survey District.

Midhurst Cemetery

All that area of land containing 5514 square metres, more or less, being part D.P. 359 and part Section 3, Block XIII, Huiroa Survey District.
