Notice of Intention to Apply for Ministerial Approval of a Code of Practice Under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992—Demolition

Pursuant to section 20 of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, I, Robert J. Hill, General Manager, Occupational Safety and Health Service of the Department of Labour, in exercise of those powers delegated to me by the Secretary of Labour, pursuant to section 41 of the State Sector Act 1988, hereby give notice of my intention, to apply to the Minister of Labour for his approval of a statement of preferred work practices or arrangements for health and safety in demolition work, as an “Approved Code of Practice”, under the Act.

These preferred work practices or arrangements are designed to describe safety and health precautions that should be taken by demolition contractors or demolition subcontractors while undertaking demolition work. The practices described include pre-demolition checks, safety precautions during demolition, methods of demolition, safety using mechanical plant and a demolition safety checklist.

Traffic Regulations 1976

Approval of Red Reflex Reflectors

Pursuant to regulation 88, subclause (1) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and in exercise of powers delegated to me, pursuant to section 28 of the Land Transport Act 1993, I, Hugh Cameron Matheson, Senior Automotive Engineer, hereby approve, for the purposes of regulation 62 (2), (3), (4) and (5) of the said regulations, red reflex reflectors as specified in the Schedule below.

Schedule

Red reflex reflector incorporated in lens marked HNZ01, manufactured by Hella and bearing the name HELLA within the Hella logo.

Note: Lens listed in the Schedule above, complies with the relevant standard in the Second Schedule of the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990.

The Traffic (Kaipara District) Notice No. 1, 1994

Pursuant to the Transport Act 1962, and a delegation from the Minister of Transport, I, Grant Stewart Milne, Acting Secretary for Transport give the following notice:

Notice

This notice may be cited as the Traffic (Kaipara District) Notice No. 1, 1994.

The roads specified in the Schedule are declared to be closely populated localities for the purposes of section 52 of the Transport Act 1962.

The Traffic (Otateman County) Notice No. 4, 1969, dated on the 21st day of October 1969* issued pursuant to section 52 of the Transport Act 1962, is revoked.

Schedule

SITUATED within Kaipara District at Tinopai:

Goebel Street.
Komiti Road.
Mariner Cove.
Moana Road.
Ngatoto Road: from Tinopai Road to a point 350 metres measured easterly, generally, along Ngatoto Road from Moana Road.

Sandy Beach Road: from Komiti Road to a point 600 metres measured westerly, generally, along Sandy Beach Road from Ngatoto Road.

Tinopai Road: from Ngatoto Road to a point 400 metres measured northerly, generally, along Tinopai Road from Ngatoto Road.

Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990

Approval of Tyre Retreading Standards

Pursuant to regulation 6 of the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990, and in exercise of powers delegated to me, pursuant to section 28 of the Land Transport Act 1993, I, Hugh Cameron Matheson, Senior Automotive Engineer, hereby prescribe NZS 5423 and AS 1973 as alternative vehicle standards for tyres for the purposes of the said Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990.

Approval of Defensive Driving Courses

Pursuant to section 48 (2) (a) of the Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Act 1986, and pursuant to section 39A of the Transport Act 1962, under powers delegated to me by the Acting Director of Land Transport Safety in an instrument dated the 20th day of August 1993, I, Warren Richard Gillespie Simeon, Manager, Road User Standards, hereby approve the following organisations for the purposes of regulations 11 (1) (b) (i) and 32 (2) of the Transport (Drivers Licensing) Regulations 1987:

Te Waka Defensive Driving Course, Tauranga.
Tawa College Defensive Driving Course, Tawa.
Ford Advanced Driving School Defensive Driving Course, Auckland.

R.P. Te Ringa Defensive Driving Course, Papakura.*

  • This replaces the incorrect name of the course listed as “R.P. Te Reinga Defensive Driving Course” in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 221, page 6278, dated 14 December 1989.
