New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946

Notice of Intention to Assign Place Names

Pursuant to section 12 of the New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946, notice is hereby given of the intention of the New Zealand Geographic Board to assign the names stated in the first column of the Schedule below to the respective places described in the second column of the said Schedule.

Objection to any such proposed name may be given in writing, setting out the grounds for objection, to the Secretary of the Board, care of the Department of Survey and Land Information, Private Box 170, Wellington, within a period of 3 months from the date of the New Zealand Gazette containing this notice.

Makirikiri Tarns	Infomap 260 U21 GR 811 718 a wetland area near the headwaters of the Waiokotore Stream, north west Ruahine Range.
Mangohane Plateau	Infomap 260 U21 GR 794 748 a tussock grassland plateau of approximately 30 sq km between Ohutu Ridge and Otupae Range, north west Ruahine Range.

Mueller Tarn	Infomap 260 M31 GR 548 710 a tarn north of Mariua Springs and approximately 3 km east from Mount Mueller.

Apricot Flat	Infomap 260 H37 GR 565 934 a river flat north of the junction of Elcho Stream and the Hopkins River.
Back Bush Stream	Infomap 260 H37 GR 725 015 a tributary of Bush Stream with headwaters near Mount Dark.
Boltons Gully Stream	Infomap 260 H37 GR 863 826 a stream whose source is near Landslip Creek and closest to Mary Burn. Flows into Lake Pukaki
Lagoon Basin	Infomap 260 H37 GR 748 028 an alpine basin with tarns between Mount Brown and Round Hill.
Mephistopeles	Infomap 260 M32 GR 625 584 a peak (1736 m) on the Libretto Range. 1 km north of Faust (1710 m).
Mount Glen Lyon	Infomap 260 H37 GR 585 804 a prominent peak (2050 m) at the southern end of the Neumann Range.
Paradise Creek	Infomap 260 H37 GR 548 854 a tributary of the Huxley River near its junction with the Hopkins River.
Red Slip	Infomap 260 H37 GR 766 000 a prominent slip in a southern gully of Bush Stream.
Rocky Knob	Infomap 260 H37 GR 759 069 a prominent hill 1280 m between Birch Hill Stream and Elbow Stream.
S Bend Creek	Infomap 260 H37 GR 585 963 a tributary of the Hopkins River, the stream headwaters are near a unnamed peak of 2252 m.
Scotts Slip	Infomap 260 H37 GR 795 966 a large slip on the northern side of Twin Stream.
Slip Stream	Infomap 260 H37 GR 763 957 a tributary of the Tasman River approximately 1km north of Glentanner Station.
Tasman Lake	Infomap 260 H36 GR 628 193 a large melt lake at the base of the Tasman Glacier.
Thar Creek	Infomap 260 H37 GR 552 898 a tributary approximately 2½km long, on the west side of the Hopkins River.

The Devils Rampart	Infomap 260 M32 GR 510 576 a peak (1740 m) between Nina River and Devilskin Stream, 1 km west of Devilskin Saddle.
ABC Cave	Infomap 260 I44, J44 GR 118977 trampers cave W of The Gap on The Silverpeaks.
Double Barrel Falls	Infomap 260 E40 GR 349 987 falls on Double Barrel Creek, tributary of the Route Burn.

Notice is hereby given pursuant to section 15 of the New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946 of the final decision of the New Zealand Geographic Board to assign the names stated in the first column of the Schedule below to the places described in the second column of the said Schedule and that such decisions shall take effect on 5 November 1994.
