Approval of Alternating Flashing Headlamps

Pursuant to regulation 88 of the Traffic Regulations 1976, approval is hereby granted, for the purpose of subclause (8) of regulation 67 of the said regulations, to the fitting and use of an Alternating Flashing Headlamps system, in vehicles as described in the Schedule, provided those vehicles comply with the conditions below.

Schedule

Vehicles used by certified overdimension load pilots for the escorting of overdimension loads and approved for this purpose by the Land Transport Safety Authority.

Conditions

  1. This system shall only be used in emergency situations when escorting wide loads, issued with an overdimension permit in accordance with regulation 49 of the Traffic Regulations 1976.
  2. This system shall be connected into the dipped beam headlamp system as defined in subclause (3) regulation 58 of the Traffic Regulations 1976.
  3. This system shall incorporate an internal light visible to the driver when the lights are flashing.
  4. When this system is in operation, the headlamps shall alternately flash at a rate of not less than 60 or more than 120 flashes per minute.
  5. This system is approved for approved certified pilot vehicles only, and must be removed from the vehicle when the vehicle is withdrawn from this service.

Transport Act 1962

Hazardous Substances—Modifications to Prescribed Standard Notice

Pursuant to section 70E (3) and (6) of the Transport Act 1962, a delegation from the Land Transport Safety Authority and a subdelegation from the Acting Director of Land Transport Safety dated the 20th day of August 1993, I, John Paul Edgar, Manager, Road and Traffic Standards, give the following notice:

Notice

The “prescribed standard” referred to in Section 70F (3) (b), (c) and (d) of the Transport Act 1962 shall be the standard described in the First Schedule as modified by the Second Schedule.

The Hazardous Substances—Modifications to Prescribed Standard Notice, signed on the 22nd day of January 1991* is hereby revoked.

First Schedule

Prescribed Standard

New Zealand Standard 5433: 1988 entitled Code of Practice for the Transport of Hazardous Substances on Land.

Second Schedule

The prescribed standard shall be modified in 10.1 in the line “Aerosol dispensers—capacity not more than 1 L” by replacing “nil” with “9” and inserting “111” in the packaging group column.

The prescribed standard shall be modified in 10.1 in the line “Life-saving appliances, self inflating” by inserting “111” in the packaging group column.

Approval of Course in Map Reading

Pursuant to section 48 (2) (f) of the Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Act 1986; and pursuant to a delegation given by the Acting Director of Land Transport Safety in an instrument of delegation dated the 20th day of August 1993; I, Warren Richard Gillespie Simeon, Manager, Road User Standards, hereby approve the following organisation to conduct a course in map reading for the purposes of regulation 11 (1) (c) of the Transport (Driver Licensing) Regulations 1987:

Ace Driving School, Hamilton.

Water Recreation Regulations 1979
Harbours Act 1950

The Water Recreation (Lake Dunstan) Notice 1993

I, Russell Kilvington, Director, Maritime Safety Authority, pursuant to the Water Recreation Regulations 1979* and in exercise of powers delegated to me pursuant to section 257A of the Harbours Act 1950, hereby give the following notice:

Notice

  1. (a) This notice may be cited as the Water Recreation (Lake Dunstan) Notice 1993.
    (b) This notice shall come into force 14 days after publication in the New Zealand Gazette and shall remain in force until revoked by further notice in the New Zealand Gazette.

  2. Subject to the conditions set forth in the Third Schedule hereto, regulations 7 (1) (a), 7 (1) (b) and 7 (2) and 8 (1) (a), 8 (1) (b) and 8 (2) of the Water Recreation Regulations 1979 shall not apply to the area specified in the First Schedule.

  3. Subject to regulation 11 of the Water Recreation Regulations 1979, the areas specified in the Second Schedule are designated as access lanes for water skiing.

  4. The Water Recreation (Kawerau River) Notice 1990 and the Water Recreation (Lake Dunstan) Notice 1992 are hereby revoked.

First Schedule

All that area of water comprising the Clutha and Kawarau Arms of Lake Dunstan and the Kawarau River upstream to a point 4100 metres upstream of the Kawarau Gorge Mining Centre Footbridge but excluding Bannockburn Inlet.

Second Schedule

All those areas of water in the Clutha and Kawarau Arms of Lake Dunstan extending 200 metres from the shore bounded by parallel lines at sites marked by ski lane marker posts at positions—

  • north-west of Deadman’s Point Bridge
