Notice of Amendment to Section 27C of the Social Security Act 1964
Pursuant to section 27C of the Social Security Act 1964, I hereby give notice that the definition of the term “relative” in section 27C(1) of that Act is hereby amended by omitting the class of relative: child or stepchild over the age of 15 years, and by inserting in substitution for it the following class of relative: child or stepchild over the age of 16 years.
These amendments shall come into force on the day after the date of publication of this notice.

Surveyors Examination
The professional interview examination will be held the week starting Monday, 21 March 1994 at 8.45 a.m.
Applications on the proper form, and all projects together with the prescribed fee must reach the secretary of the board before 21 February 1994.
Application forms and information about the board’s requirements should be obtained from the undersigned.
The prescribed fee for the examination is $207.00 includes G.S.T.

Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974
Exemption from Heavy Motor Vehicle Braking Requirements
Pursuant to regulation 16A(2) of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974, and a delegated authority from the Acting Director of Land Transport Safety, dated the 20th day of August 1993, I, Peter William Bowen, Senior Automotive Engineer, hereby exempt from the provisions of regulation 16A(1)(b) and 16A(6)(b) of the above said regulations, all vehicles of the type described in the Schedules hereto, subject to the conditions in the respective schedule.
First Schedule
Vehicle Type: Heavy goods service vehicles of the Classes NC and TD, as defined in the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990.
Conditions: Being operated singly or in combination, with a gross combined mass exceeding 44 000 kgs; and
Being operated under a valid overweight permit issued by Transit NZ or a Road Controlling Authority pursuant to regulation 7 of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974; and
Complying with the remaining requirements of regulation 16A of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974 and regulations 22 and 68 of the Traffic Regulations 1976.
Second Schedule
Vehicle Type: Heavy motor vehicles as defined in the Transport Act 1962.
Conditions: Being operated singly or in combination, with a gross combined mass not exceeding 39 000 kgs, except where compliance with either the Heavy Vehicle Brake Code or the Interim Performance Specification for Heavy Vehicle Braking is required by the special permit issued by the Land Transport Safety Authority, pursuant to regulation 49 of the Traffic Regulations 1976; and
Complying with the remaining requirements of regulation 16A of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974 and regulations 22 and 68 of the Traffic Regulations 1976.
Explanatory Note:
Not to form part of the New Zealand Gazette Notice.
Single drive ‘A’ train combinations are not exempted from the prescribed conditions of their operating permits to comply with either the Heavy Vehicle Brake Code or the Interim Performance Specification for Heavy Vehicle Braking.

Traffic Regulations 1976
Exemption of Certain Motor Vehicles from the Requirement to have Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINS)
Pursuant to regulation 90ZB(1) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, I, Alan Eric Wilcox, Director of Land Transport Safety, hereby exempt from the requirements of regulation 90s the following vehicle types:
Tractors (including traction engines);
Self propelled agricultural machinery;
Mobile machines (self propelled or trailer type) not designed for normal highway use;
Trailers with a gross weight of less than 3500 kilograms;
Mopeds and power assisted pedal cycles;
Vehicles which, by their design, will never be used in a manner which requires them to have a Warrant or Certificate of Fitness.
