Notice of Approval of a Statement of Preferred Work Practices Under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992

Pursuant to section 20 (3) of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, and whereas subsections (3) (a) and

(3) (b) of section 20 of that Act have been fulfilled and complied with, the Minister of Labour hereby gives notice that he approves a statement of preferred work practices which is an Approved Code of Practice for Code of Practice for the Prevention, Detection and Control of Fire and Explosion in New Zealand Dairy Industry Spray Drying Plant.

Building Act 1991

Proposed Recommendation for Amendment to the Building Regulations 1992

Pursuant to section 48 (4) of the Building Act 1991, notice is hereby given that the Building Industry Authority intends to make a recommendation for the amendment of the Building Regulations 1992.

The recommendations relate to the making of amendments that will:

(a) Clarify that a building consent may not be withheld because there is a need for authorisation under any Act other than the Building Act 1991.

(b) Amend the definitions of “building performance index” and “water supply system”.

(c) Add a definition of “degree-day”.

(d) Amend the following clauses of the building code:

F4 “Safety from falling”.

F6 “Construction and demolition hazards”.

F7 “Warning systems”.

G3 “Food preparation and prevention of contamination”.

G5 “Interior environment”.

G12 “Water supplies”.

G14 “Industrial liquid waste”.

G15 “Solid waste”.

(e) Amend Form 3 to correspond to the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Act 1976.

A copy of the proposed amendment may be inspected at the offices of the Authority, Eleventh Floor, Greenock House, 39 The Terrace, Wellington.
