Land at Waikari Acquired for Road

Pursuant to section 20 (1) of the Public Works Act 1981, and to a delegation from the Minister of Lands, the District Surveyor, Department of Survey and Land Information, Christchurch, declares that, an agreement to that effect having been entered into, the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby acquired for road, which, pursuant to section 60 (2) of the Transit New Zealand Act 1989, shall form part of State Highway No. 7 and shall vest in the Crown on the date of publication of this declaration in the Gazette.

Christchurch City Council

Public Works Act 1981

Notice is Hereby Given That the Christchurch City Council Proposes to Take Under the Provisions of the Public Works Act 1981, all That Parcel of Land Described in the Following Schedules for the Purposes of a Public Road Pursuant to the Provisions of Section 322 of the Local Government Act 1974

Reasons for Taking Land

The reasons why The Christchurch City Council considers it reasonably necessary to take your interest in the land are as follows:

(a) Part of the land is required for road, a public work within the meaning of the Public Works Act 1981, and is necessary for the construction of the Woodham Road to Kearneys Road section of the Opawa/New Brighton Expressway.

(b) The ability to amalgamate the balance of the land (which land is not of a size or shape to enable its sale or disposition as a separate parcel of land) with other surplus council land arising from the road realignment, is a cost efficient use of public funds.

(c) The public work has been included in the District Planning Scheme since November 1968.

(d) Provision has been made in the council’s works programme for the work to be commenced in the 1992/93 financial year.

Your Right To Object

Any person having an estate or interest in the land may forward a written objection to the Registrar, Planning Tribunals Division, Justice Department, Private Bag, Postal Centre, Wellington within 20 working days of the publication of this notice.
